A new 100-bedroom Mercure hotel is set to open in Bridgwater, Somerset in autumn 2017.  The four-storey hotel will include a bar, restaurant, gym as well as two ground floor retail units.

Construction work has started on site following the signing of an agreement with the AccorHotel Group.

The site, located at the junction of Eastover, Monmouth Street, St John Street and Broadway is in the centre of Bridgewater and a five minute drive from the M5 motorway at junction 23.

The new hotel forms the first part of an overall regeneration plan.  Three existing buildings have been demolished to make way for the new development.

citizenM open two new hotels in London this summer. The first, citizenM Tower of London, opens July 2016 (pictured left). The second, citizenM Shoreditch, opens a couple of months later.

citizenM hotels are variously described as ‘trendy boutique’,  ‘affordable luxury’ or ‘cool and contemporary’ – take your pick.

citizenM Tower of London is located right on top of Tower Hill Underground Station and overlooks the Tower and Tower Bridge. It will include 370 modular styled bedrooms – rooms manufactured off-site and then craned into position on-site.

The rooms will feature XL king-sized beds, rain showers, free movies and free wi-fi and ‘absolutely no trouser presses, bellboys or stupid pillow chocolates’.

citizenM Tower of London will have a ground floor cafe and gallery, a bar and living room spaces. The top two floors will feature ‘SocietyM’ business club rooms.

citizenM Shoreditch is located at the heart of the Shoreditch Village, a brownfield site off Shoreditch High Street. The 10-storey building will have shops, a café and restaurants on the lower floors with 185 modular style bedrooms above.

There is just one citizenM hotel in London at the moment – citizenM Bankside with 192 bedrooms. It is thought the Dutch-based group are planning to open up to 1000 bedrooms across four hotels in London.

Stubton Hall is a Grade II-listed 19th century country house on the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire border. Its new owners have transformed the former school building into primarily a wedding venue but now the facilities are also available for the corporate market.

Holiday Inn London-Kings Cross Bloomsbury hotel in central London will be rebranded as the Crowne Plaza London Kings Cross at the end of October 2016. This follows near completion of a £20million refurbishment of the hotel.

The 405-bedroom hotel has upgraded all its bedrooms and added 24 new ones as well as introducing a new executive floor.

The Crowne Plaza will include a Belgo Restaurant outlet, the Belgian-based chain whose cuisine includes mussels (moules) and frites plus Belgian beer. The Crowne Plaza London Kings Cross will also feature an alfresco dining area.

The conference and events space is the last area in the hotel to be refurbished and this will be reopening in January 2017. The diary for bookings is now open.

Crowne Plaza London Kings Cross is located in Kings Cross Road, a short walk from London St. Pancras International station and Kings Cross tube and mainline London rail terminal.
