Property developer, Urban & Civic, is reportedly about to buy two sites in the centre of Manchester city centre for development.

The first site is at the junction of Princess Street and Whitworth Street, a short walk from Manchester Piccadilly station. The one-acre site is currently a basement car park. Preliminary designs include the retention of the car park with three new blocks added including a new 165-bedroom hotel. The project would be phased, most likely over a three year period, commencing 2016/17.

The second site is between Deansgate and the River Irwell also in the heart of Manchester. It currently houses the Renaissance Manchester City Centre hotel as well as vacant office space and a car park. The Renaissance is subject to a management contract which expires in November 2017. The developer is planning up to 600 apartments in four separate blocks plus a 200-bedroom hotel.
