Kettner’s French restaurant originally opened in London’s Soho back in 1867.

It has just remerged following a total revamp as Kettner’s Townhouse with bedrooms added.

Kettner’s Townhouse comprises a restaurant, a Champagne bar plus a 33-bedroom hotel.

Historic details of the original Georgian building including the plasterwork, paneling and mosaic flooring have all been preserved and enhanced.

Bedrooms are designed along the lines of a 1920’s French boudoir.

The bedrooms range from the smallest - a ‘Tiny’ room - approximately 17sq-mt and furnished with a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in rainforest shower.

At the other end of the scale, the ‘Jacobean’ Suite at 80 sq-mt overlooks Greek Street and features a living and dining area as well as a purpose-built bathroom pod.

The restaurant will continue to serve traditional French food using locally sourced ingredients.

Kettner’s was one of the first restaurants in London to serve French food. Legend has it that King Edward VII courted his mistress, actress Lillie Langtry, in the restaurant’s private dining rooms.

Kettner’s remained open through both World Wars. Its guest list has included: Sir Winston Churchill, Agatha Christie, Oscar Wilde, Bing Crosby and Margaret Thatcher.
