Plans for the latest phase of the Circle Square development in Manchester have been approved. They include a new part-12 part-18 storey building which will feature a new 150 bedroom hotel.

The Circle Square development is the former BBC site on Oxford Road in Manchester located between Princess Street and Upper Brook Street.

The Circle Square masterplan includes a new concert hall, office space and hundreds of apartments.

The development will also include its own Energy Centre creating heat and power for the entire Circle Square community.

Permission has been granted to build London's first underground hotel in Bloomsbury.

The plan, initially rejected by Camden Council, would see a 166-bedroom hotel built on the site of a converted former NCP car park underneath St Giles Hotel in Great Russell Street.

Concerns for guest safety sleeping below ground level as well as the air quality in the window-less bedrooms have now been dispelled.

The proposed hotel, a stone’s throw from Tottenham Court Road tube station, will be designed as budget accommodation for short-term stays for tourists and business travellers.

A new name has not been finalised but the favourite is ‘No.10’, keeping an element of the existing branding.
