Compass Hospitality has added the newly renovated Lace Market Hotel in Nottingham to its grouping of managed hotels.

The Georgian townhouse hotel has 42 stylish bedrooms and suites with free high-speed wi-fi; Merchants Restaurant and Saint Bar plus the Cock and Hoop Pub; a private dining room and a meeting room to accommodate up to 22 delegates.

Lace Market Hotel is located in the oldest part of city-centre Nottingham, an area which was once the centre of the world’s lace industry and is now the city’s Creative Quarter.

Lace Market Hotel joins three Big Sleep Hotels in Cardiff, Cheltenham and Eastbourne as well as the Lion Hotel Shrewsbury and the White Swan Halifax in the Compass portfolio.

The planned reopening of IET London: Savoy Place in central London has been postponed as a result of delays encountered in the final stages of the refurbishment project. However when the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) does reopen it will have spent £29.4million on the largest renovation in its history.

Delegates will be swimming in high-tech from the moment they arrive with a vast video wall in reception to welcome them - one of three in the building.

Facilities at IET London: Savoy Place include the ground-floor 451-seater Kelvin Lecture Theatre plus the Maxwell Library on the first floor now with a new digital library and accommodating up to 200 delegates.

New facilities will include the Riverside Room with riverside views and natural daylight from large picture windows. The Riverside Room will seat up to 330 delegates depending on layout and will subdivide into five independent sound-proofed rooms.

The Riverside Room will be equipped with state-of-the-art AV including video conferencing and complimentary wi-fi. The Riverside Room also allows access to the Johnson Roof Terrace overlooking the River Thames and accommodating up to 205 guests for a reception.

IET London - Savoy Place is located just off the Strand in central London, a short walk from Trafalgar Square.

'Are you looking for the perfect idyllic location for your client’s conference? Then look no further than Legge House' began a recent e-mail.

Legge House is a former Victorian school situated in its own grounds on the edge of Marlborough Downs in Wroughton, near Swindon. It is run by the Wroughton Youth Adventure Charity.

Legge House has three meeting rooms. The Elcombe Room is the largest and is the original school hall. It will comfortably seat up to 40 delegates. The Marlborough Suite and the Uffcott Room will accommodate up to eight and sixteen delegates respectively.

Equipment available on site includes a data -projector and flip charts. Wi-fi is free of charge and there is free on-site parking. Refreshments and meals including breakfast are prepared by staff on-site.

Legge House describe their facilities as 'quirky' but they do offer very competitive rates. It has good access to the M4 at junction 16. The nearest mainline station is in Swindon.

Harbour Hotels group continue to grow their portfolio of luxury hotels. The group has acquired two former bank buildings on Corn Street in Bristol – the headquarters of Lloyds Bank and the Midland Bank site adjacent – and plan to open a 42 bedroom hotel following refurbishment and redevelopment.

The Harbour Hotel in Bristol will also include their signature ‘Jetty’ restaurant, a spa plus banqueting and events space.

Harbour Hotels have also announced a second hotel in Salcombe to join their existing Salcombe Hotel and Spa. The group has acquired Tides Reach Hotel in Salcombe and plan to add 40 new bedrooms again with a ‘Jetty’-branded restaurant and a spa.

During summer 2015 Harbour Hotels unveiled plans to open a new hotel in Brighton. The group has acquired a landmark 1850’s period building on Brighton’s seafront just minutes from Brighton Pier. They plan to convert it into the Brighton Harbour Hotel and Spa with 77 bedrooms and featuring a 'Jetty' restaurant and Champagne bar, a spa and a rooftop pool.

Brighton Harbour Hotel and Spa is expected to open in summer 2016 with the planned five-star Southampton Harbour Hotel and Spa at Ocean Village (pictured) opening in 2017.
