Work starts this week on the revamp of a former bank building at 12 Hay Hill in London's Mayfair. The building is being converted into a new luxury business and networking hub for established London-based entrepreneurs and international businesspeople. It will incorporate high-spec office accommodation with a private members club and restaurant. 12 Hay Hill will also features a terrace overlooking Berkeley Square.

The serviced offices are opening from February 2015. The private members club, restaurant and bar will be open from March 2015.

US-based Interstate Hotels & Resorts has added a further six hotels to its UK portfolio. They include:

95-bedroom Holiday Inn Express Dundee;
179-bedroom Staybridge Suites in central Birmingham;
124-bedroom Ramada Encore Luton Airport
…plus three hotels opening in the near future:
90-bedroom Holiday Inn Express Wigan (opening 2015);
124-bedroom Indigo Hotel Brighton (opening 2016);
50-bedroom Ibis Styles Greenwich North (opening 2016).


Interstate acquired the management arm of Sanguine Hospitality with its 14 hotels two years ago. This was followed by the group’s acquisition of Chardon Management with 32 UK hotels.

Plans have been published by Marlin Apartments for a new £28million 218-bedroom aparthotel, part of a mixed-use development in London’s Waterloo.

The development is centred on Costain’s 1950s former headquarters building in Westminster Bridge Road in Waterloo which will be demolished to make way for the 150,000 sq. ft. scheme.

Marlin Apartments currently have six sites across central London and the city: Empire Square near London Bridge, Queen Street near St. Paul’s, Aldgate, Limehouse, Canary Wharf and Stratford. The group’s apartments range from studio apartments to two bedroom penthouses and suites.

Ireland-based hotel group Dalata has acquired the Moran Bewley’s Hotel Group. Four UK hotels in the group include Bewley’s Hotel Manchester Airport alongside the main terminal buildings, Bewley’s Leeds in the city centre. The group’s two London hotels are the Crown Moran Hotel in Cricklewood in north-west London and Chiswick Moran Hotel in west London.

The next stage in the development of the new Bristol Arena project takes place in January 2015 when the city council plan to hold a bidders-day inviting firms to prequalify for the two-stage design and build process with the aim of starting construction a year later.

Bristol Arena is a new 12,000 capacity performance venue and conference centre to be located next to Bristol Temple Meads station on Arena Island - the former diesel depot site.

Bristol Arena is scheduled to open in 2017.
