Planning approval has been granted for the Surf Snowdonia inland surfing lake in North Wales. Construction work is set to start next month. The site is a former aluminium works in the village of Dolgarrog in the Conwy Valley. It will be the UK’s first inland wave park for surfers which aims to use Spanish wave-making technology to create 6ft breakers that race down the 300metre long lagoon. The plans also include a “wave garden” with lagoons, water slide, wakeboard lake, accommodation units, restaurant and retail facilities. The project is due to open summer 2015.

Coronation Street The Tour opened for the general public in the former Granada Studios in central Manchester at the end of March. The Tour gives visitors the opportunity to view the interior room sets, see where some famous scenes were filmed and to explore the ‘Rovers Return’.
Now Coronation Street The Tour is offering event organisers the opportunity to hire the Rovers Return for a corporate or private event. The set will accommodate up to 250 guests.
Private hire of Coronation Street The Tour is available outside usual opening hours for breakfast meetings or for drinks, canapés and private dinners in the evening.

Fulham Football Club has been granted a river works licence for the development and expansion of its Riverside Stand. The expansion will see the Craven Cottage Stadium expanded to 30,000 seats. The new stand will also provide facilities for community and other uses on non-match days. The new stand has been designed to mirror the bend in the River Thames which it overlooks. The development will also include a new riverside walk along the Thames with facilities such as a riverside café open to the public
Currently the Craven Cottage stadium is suitable for meetings of up to 150 delegates and in common with all football stadia there is no shortage of small break-out rooms. The location in west London does offer great views of the River Thames from its Riverside Terrace.

The Royal Society of Medicine in London has renamed its new Wimpole Lecture Theatre as the Naim Dangoor Auditorium in recognition of a generous philanthropic donation.
The 80-seat Naim Dangoor Auditorium opened in January 2013 and is kitted out with state of the art technology. It is equipped with full HD projection, interactive voting handsets for each delegate, HD cameras and recording equipment for video production and on-line streaming plus a wireless presentation system for presenting from tablets and mobile devices. The Royal Society of Medicine has an in-house AV team to co-ordinate its operation. The auditorium can be used for a product launch, a press event, a conference or AGM.

Millennium and Copthorne Hotels has launched a new lifestyle brand called Monogram Collection and the Chelsea Harbour Hotel in London becomes the first hotel in the collection.
Monogram Collection is described by M&C as properties of “individual, historic, stylish or unique characters – ranging from heritage to designer lifestyle hotels.” Additional hotels in Europe will be added to the collection later this year.
Millennium and Copthorne Hotels acquired the hotel – formerly the Wyndham Grand London Chelsea Harbour - at the end of 2013. It is the only five star all-suite hotel in London with 158 suites overlooking the River Thames.
