Another week…and another new hotel is proposed in Manchester.

This time new owners of the building that houses Manchester's Dry Bar in the city’s Northern Quarter have unveiled plans to create a boutique hotel in the currently unused upper floors of the building.

A new LUMA boutique hotel is proposed for the site – the second in the UK.

The first one is the LUMA Concept Hotel located in Hammersmith in London. It describes itself as ‘a hotel, but not as you know it’.

There is an existing planning consent dating from 2015 to convert the upper floors of the Dry Bar building into a hotel. This will involve restoring the property and adding a ‘modest’ extension above the existing roof level.

The Dry Bar building is located in Oldham Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and only a short walk from Piccadilly Gardens in the city centre.
