Planning permission has been granted for Marriott’s new 145-bedroom Moxy branded hotel in Manchester’s Spinningfields district.

Moxy by Marriott Manchester Spinningfields will be a nine-storey building located in Atkinson Street and Scott Place.

The hotel will form part of the Silk Works development, a heritage building just off Deansgate and close to city centre Manchester.

Preliminary work is expected to start in the near future with construction commencing within six months.

Currently there are two Moxy hotels in the UK in Aberdeen and in London at ExCeL - with two others planned in London at Stratford and Heathrow Airport.

Plans have been approved to transform The Old Palace in Chester into a 24-bedroom boutique hotel.

The Old Palace, at the heart of Chester city centre and overlooking the River Dee, was the one-time official residence for the Bishops of Chester but has now been vacant for several years.

The Old Palace is Grade II-listed and stands in its own landscaped grounds. It enjoys a secluded location behind Chester Civil Justice Centre and is adjacent to St John the Baptist’s Church.

Plans for the building include a contemporary glazed extension which will form part of a new events room – a space with views of the City Walls and Roman Gardens.

Sanguine Hospitality who have masterminded the scheme now have full planning approval for the redevelopment.


The 131-room Trafalgar St. James, overlooking London’s Trafalgar Square, has become Hilton Worldwide’s first Curio Collection by Hilton in the UK.

Trafalgar St. James, Curio Collection by Hilton has joined more than 35 hotels and resorts in the Curio group worldwide.

Bedrooms in the Trafalgar feature ‘chic urban spaces’ with high ceilings and triple-pane windows.  Each room is equipped with a range of amenities including an LED TV, a tablet for news/information and a Nespresso coffeemaker.

The Trafalgar Dining Rooms and Bar overlooks Trafalgar Square and offers all-day dining serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The Trafalgar’s rooftop bar is set to open in October with a lounge and dining area and featuring an open fireplace. A 14-cover private dining room will also be available for hire.

A 24-hour fitness centre is available for guests.

Trafalgar St. James, Curio Collection by Hilton was formerly The Hilton Trafalgar prior to its rebranding. It is a  minute’s walk from Charing Cross station in central London.

New owners have appointed Bespoke Hotels to manage the 85-bedroom Townhouse Hotel Manchester.

Townhouse Hotel Manchester is located in Portland Street in the city centre. The Grade II-listed property dates back to 1870 and was formerly a cotton warehouse. It opened as a hotel in 1982 and underwent an extensive refurbishment in 2010.

The four-star Titanic Hotel Belfast opens 10thSeptember 2017 with 119 bedrooms. The hotel is based in the former headquarters of Harland and Wolff, builders of RMS Titanic, the British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic back in 1912.

Bedrooms in Titanic Hotel Belfast, whilst paying respect to the history of the building, will be luxuriously equipped and fitted with the latest in-room technology.

The 160-cover hotel restaurant will look over the slipways where RMS Titanic and her sister ships were constructed.
