THE PIG-at Combe will be the next addition to the PIG Hotel litter operated by Home Grown Hotels. THE PIG–at Combe will open April 2016 in the Otter Valley near Honiton, Devon.

Formerly Combe House Hotel, THE PIG-at Combe is located in 3,500 acres of Devonshire countryside eight miles from the coast and 15 miles from the city of Exeter.

Home Grown Hotels plan to increase the number of bedrooms to around 33 by converting the stable yard and other buildings and spaces. Rooms and suites will feature the usual ‘PIG styling’. The loft of the main house will be transformed into rafter bedrooms and the stable block likewise retaining much of the original features. The original artwork and treasures at Combe House Hotel will also be retained.

In addition to the main house there is also a 600-year old thatched Devon longhouse which will be converted for private hire.

In common with the other PIG hotels, the kitchen garden will grow and supply most of the produce for the kitchen team. What cannot be grown will be sourced within a 25-mile radius.

Combe House Hotel will continue to operate through this summer season before a substantial refurbishment begins in the autumn prior to its rebranding early summer 2016.

Other Pig Hotels include: THE PIG Hotel in Brockenhurst, THE PIG in the wall Southampton, THE PIG on the beach at Studland in Dorset and THE PIG near Bath.

Yet another new hotel could be opening shortly in the centre of Liverpool. Plans are now in hand to convert the former Republik vodka bar and nightclub in Bold Street into a 22-suite hotel. The bar hit the headlines when it was at the centre of a drugs raid earlier this year.

A planning application has been submitted to Liverpool City Council to add a new fifth floor to the building and change its use from a bar to a hotel.

Built in the 1920s, the building is a former Lloyds Bank branch but is now vacant.  The exterior of the property features a Liver Bird medallion above a grand window, a pair of nautically themed decorative window panels and a relief of Lloyds' horse logo. The original façade will be retained in the proposed redevelopment.

Internally, owners are planning 22 single, twin and double suites. The large open spaces on the ground floor and mezzanine will be retained as event space.

The property is located at 66-68 Bold Street, on the corner with Slater Street, in the centre of Liverpool.
