A new hotel in central Birmingham is included in a major building project proposed by a midlands-based property group. The development, known as Left Bank Towers, includes two blocks with 188 apartments and a ground floor retail unit in the one, with the hotel and retail and leisure space in the other.

The site, once the home of a Jewish synagogue, is on land situated between Sheepcote Street and Oozells Way just off Broad Street. A full planning application has been submitted to Birmingham City Council.

Broad Street renowned as the city's entertainment quarter also awaits the opening of the new 300-bedroom Park Regis Birmingham Hotel with its 250,000 sq. ft. conference centre. It is located slightly further out of town at Five Ways and is expected to open in 2016. Meanwhile at the city end of Broad Street work has recently started on the £400million Arena Central project which will also include a hotel plus office space, residential units, leisure and retail space. Arena Central will face the new Library of Birmingham.

Plans to build a new five-storey aparthotel in Salford look set for approval.

The aparthotel would be on the site of an existing car park in Bloom Street, just off Salford’s Chapel Street. The aparthotel would have 83 rooms as well as a lounge and reception area on the ground floor.

Plans to build a six-storey aparthotel on the site have been refused in the past but the new scheme has been deemed ‘acceptable’ by planning officers at Salford City Council. A decision is expected shortly.

Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel in Manchester is seeking planning approval for a development and expansion project over the next 18 months.

The development will incorporate three phases. The first is a facelift planned for the ground floor with a revamped lobby plus a new restaurant and bar featuring more casual dining space and replacing the current ones.
Phase two will see a further 20 bedrooms added to the hotel's south block, including one 10,000 sq. ft. super suite. Phase three is more ambitious. It involves a plan to redevelop the Theatre Royal building next door to the hotel. Plans include the creation of an 800-seater conference venue plus a rooftop restaurant with the remainder of the space developed for luxury residential use.

Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel is now ten years old and is located in the Grade II-listed Free Trades Hall in Peter Street in the centre of Manchester.
