Hawkstone Hall, an historic mansion near Wem in Shropshire, is to be transformed into a 43-bedroom boutique hotel following planning approval.
Work is expected to start in October with an opening planned for summer 2018.
More than 20 acres of Hawkstone Hall’s manicured gardens have already been restored, including an orchard, various waterways and over half a mile of footpaths.
Hawkstone Hall is a Grade 1-listed, three-storey Georgian house. It was built in the 18th century as a family home but has been unoccupied since 2015.
Most recently Hawkstone Hall has operated as a pastoral and retreat centre with conference facilities.

The four-star 51-bedroom Barton Grange Hotel in Preston has just completed a £250,000 upgrade.
This has included the refurbishment of eight bedrooms in the Garden House, which can now be booked by larger groups such as those planning events or conferences.
In addition, the hotel is expanding its leisure offering with the addition of spa treatment services to its current indoor pool and gym. Two new rooms will provide a range of treatments, which will be available to guests from early 2018.
Barton Grange has also started building work on a new £8million leisure venue, which will feature a three-screen cinema, restaurants and an ice rink including only the second curling rink in England.
The site is a mile north of Barton Grange Hotel on the A6 at Brock, at the hotel’s sister company - Barton Grange Garden Centre.
The centre to be named the ‘Flower Bowl will also include luxury ten-pin bowling, an all-weather crazy golf course and two golf simulators.
The Flower Bowl will be a single storey building with a grass roof and its opening date has been set for Spring 2018.

QHotels has teamed up with an events production company to equip its conference rooms with the latest 'touch of a button' audio visual technology.
The aim of the exercise is to ensure that screens and audio within QHotels' meeting rooms are capable of being operated at the touch of a button, allowing hosts to focus on the content of their meeting, rather than scrambling under desks to connect wires or amend resolutions on projectors.
Fixed LCD screens have been installed in smaller meeting rooms and projector screens fitted in larger conference spaces.
A Barco ClickShare wireless presentation system now features in these meeting rooms, allowing corporate delegates to wirelessly connect their laptop or tablet to the room's meeting screen with just one button. Hence delegates can flick from screen to screen in the most efficient way.
Extra care has been taken to ensure that the work was carried out sensitively within QHotels' historic and listed buildings such as at The Midland in Manchester.
Here the screen is disguised within a gilded frame and has the appearance of a mirror when it's not in use - to ensure that it doesn't detract from the hotel's ornate surroundings.
Elsewhere, trunking concealing cables has been hidden with a vinyl wrap matching the room's wall covering or colour, ensuring attention to detail was applied throughout.
Joanne Barratt, group operations manager for QHotels, said: "We are always looking at ways to improve our audio visual offering and Universal Live and Universal AV work very closely with us to ensure we stay ahead of the market. Whilst we are introducing ClickShare across our entire portfolio, we are also looking at what is likely to follow. As technology is constantly evolving, so are our customers' requirements."

Apart’otel operator Room 2 has announced the development of its second apart’otel. It will be in Southampton and is due for completion in March 2018.
Room 2 Southampton will be located at 1-8 Queens Terrace in Southampton.
The deck and interior features will not be dissimilar to those found on board traditional cruise liners, a nod towards the importance of Southampton in cross-Atlantic travel.
Room 2 Southampton will have 71 studio rooms featuring a kitchen, work table, rainfall showers, free wi-fi, a television, a king-sized bed and air conditioning.
Some rooms will also have ‘mezzanine top decks’.
The public areas in Room 2 Southampton will include a space to work, meet and relax. A coffee bar during the day will become a bar in the evening.
A third apart’otel - Room 2 Chiswick in London – is expected to open next year. It will join Room 2 Hammersmith and Room 2 Southampton as the third unit in the group.
