Plans for the £400million redevelopment of the former BBC Television Centre in west London have been approved by the London Mayor. Construction on the mixed use development is expected to start in April. BBC Television Centre was home to the BBC for half a century and is a grade-listed building. The original features of the building, including the famous ‘doughnut’, will be retained.

When completed in 2017, the 14-acre site will host a Soho House club, 950 apartments and townhouses, offices, a hotel, shops and restaurants; all in addition to the BBC Studios and its post-production team.

King Street Townhouse is a new hotel opening in the centre of Manchester in August 2015. King Street Townhouse will join three other Manchester hotels in the Eclectic Hotels group.

King Street Townhouse will be located in the Upper King Street conservation area of Manchester city centre. It is a Grade II-listed former bank building, dating back to 1864. It is currently undergoing redevelopment into a luxurious and intimate townhouse hotel.

King Street Townhouse will have 40 bedrooms and suites, Tavern bar and restaurant, an afternoon tea room, a roof garden plus a rooftop spa pool, treatment rooms and gym. The hotel will also include conference and event space for around 170 delegates.

The group behind Hatters Hostels chain has secured funding for a major refurbishment programme. The group is named after its first site, a former bowler hat factory in Newton Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Hatters Hostels now has four properties, two in Manchester and one each in Liverpool and Birmingham. The investment will include upgrading the properties and the development of new bar facilities in Birmingham and Liverpool.

Kings Place Events, the arts venue at Kings Cross in London, plan to open new space, the Gallery Room, at the beginning of May 2015.

The Gallery Room will be situated on the mezzanine level of Kings Place. It will feature marble flooring, a 75” plasma screen and hi-spec I.T. capabilities, an inbuilt cloakroom as well as a specialist lighting system allowing for colour washes and available for corporate branding. The Gallery Room will seat up to 40 guests for dinner and up to 60 delegates for a theatre style meeting.

The Gallery Room will join other meeting and banqueting facilities at Kings Place including two auditoriums, two art galleries, Rotunda bar and restaurant, a cafe and a selection of meeting and event spaces.

Kings Place is a five minute walk from Kings Cross St Pancras stations and overlooks the Regent’s Canal.
