Battlesteads Hotel and Restaurant near Hexham in Northumberland is opening a new on-site observatory this month – the first hotel in the UK to do so. Battlesteads Hotel and Restaurant is located on the edge of Northumberland National Park which gained 'Dark Sky Park' status in December 2013.
The observatory sits in the hotel grounds, facing south and will accommodate up to 25 star-gazers. It is equipped a Celestron C11 OTA telescope on a EQ8 mount and also includes a set of 25 x 100 mounted binoculars to suit both beginners and experienced astronomers alike. In addition, Battlesteads will be running a series of courses targeted at all levels of star-gazer.
Battlesteads Hotel and Restaurant has 17 en-suite bedrooms, each furnished with a flat screen television, DVD, Freeview, free wi-fi access, ironing board and a hairdryer. Battlesteads also has five newly constructed eco-lodges in its grounds. The restaurant sources prime local ingredients as much as possible; with herbs, salads, vegetables and many different fruit varieties grown in Battlesteads' kitchen garden.
Battlesteads Hotel and Restaurant is located in the village of Wark-on-Tyne on the B6320 Bellingham road, 12 miles north of Hexham which is twenty miles west of Newcastle-on-Tyne.

A new 31-bedroom hotel is planned in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. Suburban Inns plan to convert the two floors above The Rope Walk pub in St Paul's Square into a hotel. The space is currently used as offices. The car park at the rear of the building will remain as part of the development.
The planning application is the latest in a line of proposed redevelopment projects for the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter. The nearby Bloc Hotel is planning to extend adding a 30-bedroom aparthotel. Staycity, another aparthotel specialist, is planning to open a 170-bedroom hotel in Newhall Square later this year.

The Zetter Townhouse Marylebone opens spring 2015 in Seymour Street in London. Zetter Townhouse Marylebone will be a sister property of the Zetter Hotel in Clerkenwell.
The hotel will include 24 eclectic styled rooms furnished with antiques and curiosities. It will feature a rooftop apartment complete with private staircase plus a large roof terrace with an alfresco roll top bath. There will be a cocktail bar on the ground floor plus a restaurant.

Z Shoreditch opens in City Road, Shoreditch, London in May 2015. It will be the fourth Z hotel in London. The others are in Soho, Victoria and Piccadilly.

Building work has begun on the Shankly Hotel in Liverpool, the new luxury 83-bedroom hotel named after legendary Liverpool FC manager Bill Shankly. The hotel will be located in the Millennium House building, former council offices in the centre of Liverpool.
Plans for the Shankly Hotel include the addition a new roof-top extension and terrace to incorporate conferencing and events space.
Liverpool City Council approved the £15million conversion of Millennium House last year. The project also includes serviced apartments and office space. The existing gym and leisure facility in the building will be retained and will be moved to the ground and first floor. The developers, Signature Living also plan to locate a training school on the site which will support people wishing to go into the leisure and hospitality industries.
Shankly Hotel is scheduled to open in time for the new football season in August 2015.
Millennium House was originally built as the Imperial Buildings in 1879. It was redeveloped into council offices in the 1990s. It is located in Victoria Street in the heart of Liverpool between Liverpool Lime Street station and the Albert Dock.
