A new four-star hotel commemorating Everton football legend, Dixie Dean, could open in Liverpool next year.

The hotel is the brainchild of Signature Living, the team behind the Shankly Hotel in Liverpool and the planned George Best Hotel in Belfast.

Signature Living plan to start converting the Jerome and Carlisle Buildings in Liverpool into a 100- bedroom hotel in September 2017.

The hotel will showcase Dixie Dean memorabilia from his career as the centre forward who scored 349 goals in 399 matches and was described as the "greatest centre forward there will ever be" by Liverpool's manager Bill Shankly.

As well as 100 bedrooms, the 65,000 sq-ft Dixie Dean hotel will have a number of restaurants and bars plus events space.
