Chancellors Hotel at the University of Manchester has reopened following a £4million transformation.
Chancellors Hotel is a 72-bedroom Grade II-listed extended mansion house set within 5.5-acres of gardens.
The mansion was built in 1850 for Sir Joseph Whitworth and in 1882 was leased to CP Scott, editor of The Manchester Guardian.
As well as revamping all the bedrooms, a refurbishment has also been carried out in the public areas, including the hotel reception, meeting rooms, corridors, bar, lounges and the conservatory. A new lift has also been installed.
Bedrooms at Chancellors Hotel feature a flat screen television, hair dryer, telephone, complimentary tea and coffee, free unlimited high speed broadband and wi-fi plus free car parking.
Chancellors Hotel has a selection of seven meeting rooms with the Flowers Theatre the largest seating up to 130 delegates theatre style.
Chancellors Hotel is located close to Manchester University’s Owens Park complex and the Armitage Sports Centre in Fallowfield - two miles south of Manchester city centre.

Plans have been submitted to build a new 328-bedroom, 20-storey Motel One in central Manchester.
The hotel would be located on the site of Peterloo House in St Peter’s Square.
If plans are approved Peterloo House would be demolished and the construction would begin soon after.
It would be the third Motel One in Manchester. The first opened opposite Piccadilly Station on London Road last year with 330 bedrooms.
Construction continues on a second Motel One with 298 bedrooms in Cross Street, also in central Manchester. It is expected to open at the end of 2017.
The new Motel One on St Peter’s Square would also include 108 apartments above the main hotel.

Somerset House just off the Strand in central London has unveiled two new events spaces in a newly opened New Wing of the centre of contemporary culture.
They are the Lancaster Room and the River Rooms. Both have been fully restored whilst retaining their original characteristics.
The Lancaster Room (pictured) has views over the Thames. The room’s original features have all been retained including the dramatic pillars, the high ceilings and exposed floor boards.
The Lancaster Room has its own private entrance.
The Lancaster Room is a blank canvas space available for receptions, dinners, press days, product launches, filming and photography. The room will seat up to 110 guests for a dinner.
The River Rooms are a series of interlinking open plan rooms situated in the New Wing featuring their original fireplaces and exposed brick archways.
The River rooms are also blank canvas spaces which will accommodate up to 220 guests for a reception and are available for press days, product launches, filming and photography and other events.

Construction work has started extending facilities at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Sheffield Park in Sheffield.
Currently the hotel has 95 bedrooms, a restaurant and bar, meeting rooms, a spa and swimming pool.
A £3.9million extension will bring an additional 39 bedrooms. The new rooms will be split equally across three floors and will be constructed at the far end of the car park near the hotel entrance.
The project is planned for completion by September 2017.
The hotel is the former Sheffield Park Hotel. It reopened as the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Sheffield Park in 2011. It is located in Chesterfield Road on the south side of Sheffield.

Farnborough International open their new Hall 1 in spring 2018.
The purpose-built facility boasts more than 20,000sq-mt of flexible event space, including 12,500sq-mt of exhibition space.
The venue will host up to 2,500 conference delegates theatre style. There will be onsite parking for 3,500 cars.
It will be named the Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre and it is set to become one of the UK’s foremost meeting and exhibition destinations.
Hall 1 will compliment the existing Hall 5 on the airfield site in Hampshire.
Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre will be a multi-purpose event facility with plenty of flexible meeting space.
The main hall can be subdivided with partition walls.
The venue will also have drive-in access facilities allowing easy vehicle unloading during event build and break.
Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre is situated minutes from the M3 motorway and is easily accessible by road, rail and air. The main station is located just over a mile away from the business park. It is 40 miles to central London and 25 miles to Heathrow Airport.
