The Tommyfield in Kennington, south London, has just launched six new bedrooms on the top two floors of the pub. Individually designed, they feature either a superking or king-size bed, Egyptian cotton linen, an HD Freeview television, free wireless internet, a Nespresso machine, black-out curtains or blinds, a mini-fridge and a safe.

The Tommyfield was named after the nineteenth century market which was home to Britain’s first fish and chip shop. Facilities at The Tommyfield include the Master Room a first floor room accommodating up to 100 guests standing or 40 seated for a private event or working lunch. The room is equipped with a Bose sound system, iPod facilities, wi-fi and a large projector screen.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signing three more Holiday Inn Express hotels in the UK. They include Holiday Inn Express London – Vauxhall Nine Elms; Holiday Inn Express Leigh – Sports Village and Holiday Inn Express Wigan in Greater Manchester.

The 132-bedroom Holiday Inn Express London – Vauxhall Nine Elms will open later in 2014.  The property will be rebranded from an existing hotel into a Holiday Inn Express. It will be located close to Vauxhall Cross and the Nine Elms Battersea site, one of London’s largest regeneration areas and just a few minutes’ walk from Vauxhall rail and tube stations.

The 135-bedroom Holiday Inn Express Leigh – Sports Village will open summer 2014. This is a former Park Inn property and features six meeting rooms, a bar, lounge and dining area as well as an on-site car park with 165 spaces. Leigh Sports Village is home to Leigh Centurions Rugby League Football Club which includes a conference venue with a 250 delegate capacity.  Holiday Inn Express Leigh – Sports Village has good access to Manchester and Liverpool, as well as the towns of Warrington, Bolton and Wigan.  

The 87-room Holiday Inn Express Wigan opens in 2015 close to Wigan’s city centre and the DW Stadium.

Qbic Hotels, currently with two properties in London and Amsterdam, are planning four new hotels over the next two years all in London - at sites in Camden, Borough, Vauxhall and Southwark.
The first Qbic London opened last November in Adler Street, Shoreditch in a refurbished former office block. The hotel combines an innovative pod design with competitive rates which start from £69 per night for a room and include free wi-fi.

Roomzzz Aparthotels has acquired the Welbeck Hotel in the centre of Nottingham and plans to refurbish and convert it into a 106 apartment hotel with an opening planned for April 2015. Roomzzz Aparthotel Nottingham City will feature a number of penthouse suites with roof gardens and balconies. The Welbeck will continue to operate as a hotel until the refurbishment begins.

Roomzzz Aparthotel Nottingham City is the fourth new property the group plan to open in 2015. It joins:

Roomzzz Aparthotel Chester City overlooking Chester racecourse with 63 individual apartments. It will also feature penthouse suites with rooftop balconies.

Roomzzz Aparthotel Liverpool City with 108 apartments will be set in the former Littlewoods building in Liverpool.  

Roomzzz Aparthotel London Stratford will also be opening in 2015 with 82 apartments located minutes from the Olympic Park, Westfield Shopping Centre and Stratford tube station.
