Travelodge has confirmed plans to open seven new hotels in the West Midlands as part of a £42million investment programme.

The new hotels will be in either Edgbaston or Selly Oak in Birmingham, Solihull, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Worcester and two hotels in Coventry.

Travelodge has just opened its second hotel in Dudley. The £6million Travelodge Dudley Town Centre (pictured) has 78 bedrooms and a Bar Café.

Travelodge Dudley Town Centre is situated on the site of the former Royal Brierley Crystal factory. Prior to that the site was a limestone quarry. The site’s historical background has been marked in the development of the new Travelodge. The large windows on the south elevation of the building display textured designs of fossils, shells and corals representing the limestone quarry that lies underground.

A new restaurant with a covered deck and with views of the Castle’s East Front, the River Avon and its island will feature in the development.

New owners of Old Church Farm, Rolls-Royce's former Grade II-listed private hotel and conference centre in South Gloucestershire, are set to open the property this autumn as a seven-bedroom luxury hotel with conference facilities.

The main house was originally known as Alveston Manor and it dates from the 16th century. It stands in 7.8 acres of grounds.

The house still retains its many Tudor features including wood panelling, original fireplaces and its croquet lawn.

Old Church Farm is located in Rudgeway between Alveston and Almondsbury on the A38 trunk road. It is close to the M4/M5 motorway interchange just north of Bristol.
