Gleneagles Hotel owner Ennismore is to open a Gleneagles Club in the centre of Edinburgh.

The club will be based in the Grade A, former Bank of Scotland office in St Andrew Square which is now vacant. The building was originally built for the British Linen Bank in 1846. It is located within the New Town Conservation Area and is part of the Edinburgh World Heritage Site.

The Gleneagles Club will feature bars, lounges, restaurants, some bedrooms plus events space.

The building is next door to a former RBS branch currently being converted into the Edinburgh Grand Hotel.

Ennismore acquired the 232-bedroom Gleneagles hotel and golf resort in 2015. The company is also the owner of Hoxton Hotels which has two hotels in London, in Shoreditch and Holborn.

Construction is set to start next year on a new aparthotel in Derby.

The aparthotel will be located in Merrill Way on the site of the former Allenton police station which has since been demolished.

It will include 12 apartments – a mix of one and two bedroom apartments.

The site is just a short distance from the civil aerospace headquarters of Rolls Royce.

The aparthotel will be operated by The Birchover Residences. The Birchover Residences is a collection of East Midlands-based luxury apartment-hotels in Derby, Nottingham and West Bridgford. Together the group operates 50 apartments ranging from studios through one, two, three and four bedroom apartments.

The Arena Racing Company (ARC), which runs the Royal Windsor Racecourse, has submitted plans to build a 150-bedroom hotel at the Maidenhead Road site.

The four-storey hotel, a Hilton Garden Inn, would have a restaurant and bar plus a fitness suite. It would be open all year round as well as offering accommodation to stable staff on race days.

The local council is set to grant planning permission subject to agreeing conditions in relation to transport and the likelihood of flood risk in view of its location on the flood plain of the River Thames.

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets has approved plans to convert a former cinema in Bethnal Green into a boutique hotel.

The Rex Cinema closed to the public in 1967. Now the original art deco façade of the former cinema is to be restored and the building will be the centre of a mixed-use development.

The new hotel will feature 130 bedrooms, a single screen cinema, a roof top bar and a restaurant.

Building work is expected to start on site in the early New Year with the hotel opening in around two years’ time.
