Plans have been submitted for a new hotel in the centre of Leeds.

The site is the former Deep Blue lap dancing club in Wellington Street.

The project would see the building partly demolished and then converted into a five-storey hotel mirroring its neighbour, the Grade II-listed Queens House alongside.

The ground floor of the new hotel would include the hotel reception, foyer, lounge and restaurant area.

The first, second and third floors would each house seven bedrooms.

The fourth/roof floor would feature a roof top terrace and garden with a bar.

The original building itself is not listed but it does sit within a conservation area and the new hotel design would preserve the elevation of the building and seek to maintain the character of the conservation area.

The new 96-bedroom hotel currently under development at Admiralty Arch in London will fly the Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts flag when it opens in 2022.

The sale of Admiralty Arch to private developers was part of a wider sell-off of unused government buildings back in 2012.

Admiralty Arch Waldorf Astoria will have three restaurants plus a rooftop bar, meeting and events space and a spa.

Waldorf Astoria will share the building with private residences and a private members club.

Hotel design will be led by Michael Blair and David Mlinaric.

Liverpool-based hotel operator, Signature Living, has submitted plans for its first hotel in Manchester city centre.

The project is a planned 39-bedroom hotel on the site of the former Commercial Hotel, a Grade II-listed building in Castlefield.

The original building would be fully refurbished to provide hotel accommodation together with a ground-floor restaurant and bar.

A new five-storey extension would be added at the rear.

Plans to convert the buildings into a hotel were first approved by Manchester City Council in December 2011, but the project was never progressed.

Signature Living already operate a range of hotels and apartments across the UK, including the Titanic Hotel and the Shankly Hotel in Liverpool plus the recently opened  Exchange Hotel in Cardiff.
