Plans have been lodged to create a static floating hotel at the Prince of Wales Dock in Edinburgh’s port of Leith.
Plans tabled by Royal Yacht Enterprises would see the Northern Lighthouse Board (NLB) ship, MV Fingal, undergo a £3.5million conversion into a 23-bedroom hotel.
The hotel would feature bedroom suites, cabins with private balconies, duplex apartments and a presidential suite.
MV Fingal was acquired by the Royal Yacht Britannia Trust in 2014. The group also own ‘Britannia’ – the Queen’s former floating residence, which is now used as a visitor attraction and banqueting facility at the port of Leith.
The new “boatique” hotel is expected to open in Easter 2018.
