The University Arms hotel in Cambridge is scheduled to reopen autumn 2017 with 192 bedrooms.

This follows completion of an £80million refurbishment programme over the last two years.

The University Arms hotel is the oldest hotel in Cambridge. It opened originally as a coaching inn in the 1840s. The hotel was extended in the 1930s, and again in the 1960s.

The latest refurbishment will create a new classical frontage with the aim of restoring the hotel's prominence in the city.

When the works are completed the University Arms aims to be the premier hotel in Cambridge providing first class facilities with excellent new bedrooms, a destination restaurant, bar, gym and over 11,800 square metres of conference and events facilities.

The project should also enhance the relationship of the University Arms hotel with the street and the open space of Parker's Piece in Cambridge which it overlooks.

The building opened 166 years ago as the Station Hotel in Hull. In more recent times it has been the Quality Royal Hotel Hull. Then it was rebranded as the Mercure Hull hotel.

Now the original railway hotel is to be become the Royal Hotel Hull operated by Britannia Hotels, its new owners.

Historic it may be, but in 1990 much of the hotel had to be gutted and rebuilt following a devastating fire. Only the facade and the staircase remain from the original building.

The Royal Hotel Hull has 155 bedrooms with free wi-fi throughout. There is a restaurant and bar and a range of meeting and events spaces accommodating from two to 450 delegates.

The Royal Hotel Hull is located in Ferensway at the heart of central Hull. It is connected to Hull Paragon rail and bus station and is within easy reach of the M62 motorway.
