What has been termed ‘Europe’s largest hotel development’ is set to go ahead shortly in Somerset.

Contract have been awarded to design and build Hinkley Point C campus living accommodation for on-site workers during construction of Hinckley C Power Station on the Somerset coast.

Hinkley Point Campus is considered to be the largest hotel style development in Europe for 25 years.

When completed in 2018/19 it will provide 1,496 en-suite bedrooms across 44 individual buildings at two key locations.

The Bridgwater Campus is the larger of the two developments, with twenty-nine accommodation blocks, each offering en-suite rooms for 34 workers.

A further fifteen buildings will be located at the Hinkley site providing direct access to the construction zone.

The three storey buildings have been sympathetically designed to complement the surroundings, with natural timber and stone-effect cement cladding providing distinctive yet subtle exterior facades.

The accommodation modules will be factory-built and delivered to site 96% complete, with all en-suite rooms fully fitted-out.

The campus will provide accommodation for workers during the construction of Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Plant which is expected to last around ten years.

When completed the facility will provide 7% of the UK’s electricity.

Construction work has started on a £6 million project to transform St George’s Bristol into a world-class multi-purpose venue for performances, education workshops, team building and venue hire.

A key feature of the development will be a new extension built within the surrounding gardens of the main building. Completion is expected mid-February 2018.

St George’s Bristol is predominantly a music venue. However, its 562 capacity main hall hosts conferences as well as concerts and celebratory events.

In addition to the main hall, there are two backstage dressing rooms and meeting/break-out rooms which can accommodate small meetings through to 250 capacity functions.

St George's Bristol is located in Great George Street in the heart of Bristol. There is a car park that can accommodate up to 16 vehicles.

The Crystal Maze Experience has just opened in Manchester.

For those people who weren’t born at the time or were busy doing other things in the 90’s, the Crystal Maze was a highly successful TV show which ran from 1990-1995.

In the Crystal Maze contestants competed in a variety of games in four categories: Physical, Mental, Skill or Mystery. Each was designed to test their strength under pressure. The more games they won, the more crystals they got. At the end of their time in the maze, the crystals were converted into precious time in the Crystal Dome.

The Crystal Maze has obvious team building potential as well as being good entertainment.

Private booking of Crystal Maze Manchester for team-building events is possible during the week between 9am – 2.30pm. This includes use of AV equipment for presentations and a bar. Minimum number of delegates is 32 up to a maximum of 120.

Crystal Maze Manchester is located at the Old Granada Studios, off Lower Byrom Street and alongside the Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI) in central Manchester.
