The Trafalgar Hotel in London will be relaunched this summer as the Trafalgar St James and rebranded under Hilton’s boutique Curio chain.

The Trafalgar St James will be the first UK hotel to join the Curio Collection by Hilton.

The move follows completion of an extensive renovation at the Trafalgar Hotel. New features include an all-day-dining grill restaurant replacing the current ground floor bar.

The restaurant will be named: 1805 - the year of the Battle of Trafalgar.

The bedrooms and the hotel rooftop are also being revamped. The building was, at one time, home to the Cunard Steamship Company - a historical link which is serving as an inspiration for the internal designs of the Trafalgar St James.

The rooftop will feature a lounge and dining area with a private glasshouse for up to 14 guests.

Trafalgar St James London - Curio Collection by Hilton overlooks the south side of Trafalgar Square in central London.

Curio Collection by Hilton is a collection of hotels selected for their distinct style. The brand was launched in June 2014 and now comprises more than 30 hotels in seven countries.

Green light for Drake’s Island hotel in Plymouth

Plans to redevelop Drake's Island in Plymouth with a new luxury hotel have been given the go-ahead by city councillors.

Proposals for the site include a luxury hotel with a spa and restaurant. It will also feature an educational facility for the general public.

Earlier proposals for the site were rejected due to the potential impact on a protected bird colony resident on the island.

Drake's Island is a landmark site in Plymouth Sound. Originally known as St Nicholas Island, it has been fortified from at least the 16th century with military use continuing until after World War II.
