St Giles Hotel Group has unveiled plans for the acquisition of two additional UK properties. 

St Giles Hotel Group currently operates two London hotels, one in Tottenham Court Road and the other at Heathrow Airport. The two additional UK hotels will be another property in London with the other in Birmingham.

St Giles Hotel Group is putting together a planning application for a London Blackfriars development which will feature a hotel with up to 600 bedrooms. If everything goes to plan the hotel will open in 2020.

The new hotel in Birmingham is also at the planning stages. It will be a four-star hotel with around 400 bedrooms and will be located close to Birmingham New Street Station. Construction could start at the end of 2017.

Meanwhile St Giles London hotel begins its reception and lobby refurbishment straight after Christmas on 9th January 2017 for a period of approximately eight weeks.

The easyHotel group’s plan to open in Sheffield is steaming ahead. Now the group is set to open in Leeds after conditionally acquiring a site in the centre of the city.

EasyHotels have secured the former Waring & Gillow furniture store site in the centre of Leeds and close to main shopping centres: The Victoria Quarter, The Light scheme and Trinity shopping centre.

The building, which dates from 1922, originally housed The Scala Theatre.

A  94-bedroom easyHotel  Leeds with an expected opening in 2018 is the plan – subject to planning approval being granted.

The former independently operated Chalon Court hotel in St Helens, Merseyside is to be rebranded Mercure St Helens Chalon Court Hotel from April 2017.

Mercure St Helens Chalon Court Hotel will have 84 modern and recently refurbished bedrooms. The ‘92 Bar and Restaurant’ will offer on-site dining.

Mercure St Helens Chalon Court will have five well-equipped meeting rooms accommodating up to 300 delegates. Leisure facilities include a heated indoor pool, gym, sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room.

Mercure St Helens Chalon Court is located in the centre of St Helens, 35 minutes from Manchester International Airport, 20 minutes from Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport and with good access to the M6 and M62 motorways. There is on-site parking for 150 cars.

Allied London, new owners of London Road Fire Station in Manchester, will shortly submit a planning application for its redevelopment.

Plans include restaurants, workspaces plus a 91-bedroom Zetter Hotel.

Plans also include a new venue and event space called the Fire Bar. This will be created by excavating space under the fire station, with access from a glass pavilion in the centre of the triangular courtyard.

Alongside its 91 bedrooms, the Zetter Hotel will also include a banqueting hall and meeting rooms.

London Road Fire Station is located in the centre of Manchester alongside Manchester Piccadilly station.

No more than half a mile from Piccadilly station plans to build  another new four star hotel on the corner of Whitworth Street and Princess Street have been abandoned for the second time. New apartments will now take its place instead.

Marriott International’s Moxy Hotel brand has just made its debut in the UK.  Moxy Aberdeen Airport is now open with 200 bedrooms.

Moxy is a budget hotel brand targeting  the ‘stylish, tech-savvy’ market. Chic bedrooms feature a 42-inch flat screen televisions full HD and a high quality sound system, free high-speed wi-fi, screencasting ability and built-in USB ports plus motion activated LED guidelight below bed plus backlighted glass panels.

Facilities at Moxy Aberdeen Airport include meeting areas with 56-inch displays. Snacks and drinks are available 24/7. Guests have free use of the hotel’s computers and there is a bar.

Moxy Aberdeen Airport has free super-fast wi-fi throughout. Leisure facilities include a fitness suite with cardiovascular equipment and free weights.

Moxy Aberdeen Airport is located in Argyll Way, five minutes from the terminal buildings at Aberdeen Airport.
