The Royal Horticultural Society has published plans to establish its fifth UK garden – in Salford.

The new 150 acre-plus garden will be on the site of the former Worsley New Hall. It will be known as RHS Garden Bridgewater and it forms part of the RHS 10-year £160million investment programme.

As well as various gardens, allotments, glasshouses, teaching and development space, RHS Garden Bridgewater will also include an events and learning space plus a shop and café.

Plans are being drawn up to convert the former headquarters of the Coventry Evening Telegraph newspaper into a boutique hotel.

The post-war building, on a site which bounds Lamb Street, Upper Well Street and Corporation Street in the centre of Coventry, has been vacant since 2012.

New owners plan to preserve the main building in recognition of its important role in the city’s post-war redevelopment.

A mixed-use scheme is planned for the building which will comprise a 250-bedroom hotel, 16,000 sq-ft of leisure space, student accommodation plus private apartments and office space.

Workspace provider, Regus, has published plans to open its first business centre in Shipley, West Yorkshire.

Salts Mill was opened in 1853 by industrialist Sir Titus Salt, who built the adjoining model village of Saltaire to house the mill’s workers.
