Safestay, operators of premium hostel style accommodation, open their fourth UK property this summer in Edinburgh. It follows two London-based Safestay hostels at Holland Park and Elephant & Castle plus Safestay York.

Safestay Edinburgh is located in Blackfriars Street just off Edinburgh’s Royal Mile in the heart of the Old Town. The building is currently being refurbished.

Safestay Edinburgh will offer en-suite facilities throughout in rooms ranging from private twins through to dormitories with three to 12 bunk beds. There are 132 rooms in total. Private rooms will be available.

Linen, towels, shampoo and soap will be supplied in all rooms, as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Wi-fi will be free throughout.

Safestay Edinburgh will have a licensed bar. Breakfast will be available and there will also be a self-catering kitchen area.

Safestay Edinburgh is a short walk from Edinburgh Waverley Station.

British Airways i360 opens this summer on Brighton beach. It is now taking bookings for events from 1 September 2016.

British Airways i360 is the world’s tallest moving observation tower and the world’s first vertical cable car. It has been designed by London Eye architects, Marks Barfield.

The event suite at British Airways i360 is located in the beach building at the base of the tower. Meeting space includes the main Beach Room which will seat up to 200 delegates and will divide into two independent rooms.

The Greene Boardroom will seat 25 delegates and the 1866 West Pier Toll Booth, which is only available for hire in the evening, will accommodate up to 38 delegates. The Glass Pod itself will seat 156 delegates.

The meeting rooms have sea views and private beach front terraces. Meetings can be combined with a ride on the cable car.

British Airways i360 is a two minute walk from the Brighton Centre and three of Brighton’s major conference hotels including the Hilton Metropole, The Grand Brighton and the Holiday inn Brighton. A pre- or post-meeting reception can be hosted at British Airways i360 in conjunction with any Brighton meeting or event.

Brew @ Eagle House is new event space in the heart of Tech City in London’s Shoreditch. It is based in Eagle House, a  new development completed last year.

Brew @ Eagle House is a 159sq-mt blank canvas event space with natural light, a 3.3m ceiling, an HD projector and sound system plus free 200Mbps superfast internet.

The space will accommodate up to 150 guests standing or 85 delegates for a theatre style meeting. Brew @ Eagle House is open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and prices are based on a minimum four hour booking.

There is a kitchenette as well as on-site caterers.

Brew @ Eagle House has its own private entrance for guests and delegates.

Brew @ Eagle House is located in City Road. It is a stone's throw away from Old Street tube station and a short walk from Moorgate and Liverpool Street stations.

 


Dalata Hotel Group have unveiled plans to open a new Maldron Hotel in Belfast.

The group has planning permission for a new 14-storey, 206-bedroom  hotel.

The new Maldron Hotel will be built on the site of the former Belfast Metropolitan College in Brunswick Street.

Demolition work has already begun on site and construction is due to commence in June 2016. The hotel is expected to be completed in the first half of 2018.

A new hotel scheme has been unveiled in Cardiff.

A planned £40million investment will convert the Grade II-listed historic Coal Exchange building into a luxury 200-bedroom hotel.

Hotel and aparthotel developer, Signature Living, has signed an agreement with Cardiff Council to acquire the former office and music venue.

The new hotel will also include luxury serviced apartments and a restaurant. The former trading hall will become an events venue with a capacity of up to 1000 delegates.

The Coal Exchange is located in Cardiff Bay. It was constructed between 1883 and 1886 and was used to trade coal.

The redevelopment is expected to take 18 months. However the first phase is scheduled to open later this year.
