Work has started on the demolition of Old Trafford Lodge and Development House at the Emirates Old Trafford cricket ground in Manchester.

Contractors have been appointed for the construction of a new 150-bedroom Hilton Garden Inn on the site.

The Hilton Garden Inn, which will be operated by Lancashire County Cricket Club under franchise, will have 150 bedrooms spread over five floors and will include a fitness centre.

The hotel will also include a restaurant, a bar and the Pavilion Pantry serving snacks throughout the day.

The new hotel is scheduled to open in the summer of 2017.

New 30-bedroom luxury hotel is planned near US Embassy in Grosvenor Square in central London. The hotel, with a focus on the arts, is set to be developed by the owner of Blakes Hotel.

The new hotel will be Blakes’ second hotel in London following its site in South Kensington.

The new hotel will include an informal, all-day Parisian-style brasserie restaurant serving a contemporary menu based around locally sourced organic and biodynamic ingredients. Other facilities will include a private members’ club and bar.

If planning is approved, the new hotel will be spread across three buildings at 22 Grosvenor Square, 43 North Audley Street and 1 Lees Place.

The planning application is supported by freeholder Grosvenor, who view the development as part of a wider effort to rejuvenate its holdings across Mayfair as a place to live, work and visit.


Jesus College Cambridge will open its new West Court conference facilities winter 2016.

Jesus College has purchased the Grade II-listed neighbouring West Court buildings and is now refurbishing and reconfiguring the building to provide new meeting facilities. West Court will also feature a landscaped courtyard at the heart of the site.

Meeting-wise, West Court will include a multi-functional lecture hall equipped with the latest communications technology. It will accommodate up to 190 delegates. It will also include house a dedicated events space, with a café, terrace area and basement bar. There will be residential accommodation available all-year round.

Some parts of West Court are already available for external bookings. The Webb Library can be used for a range of events, from drinks receptions for up to 180 people to lectures for up to 75 delegates. Alongside, the Frankopan Room is available for smaller meetings and receptions.

Jesus College is located on the site of a Benedictine Nunnery just off Maids Causeway and approximately two miles from the centre of Cambridge.

Study Inn Conference is a new purpose-built conference centre located in the centre of Coventry.

London Mayor Boris Johnson has given final approval for Tottenham Hotspur FC’s planned stadium redevelopment at White Hart Lane.

The new £400million Northumberland Development Project also includes a 180-bedroom hotel and a “Sky Walk” adrenaline attraction on the roof of the stadium. Other facilities will include a sports centre, health centre and a club museum as well as residential units.

Spurs are planning to move into the 61,000-seater venue in time for the start of the 2018-19 season.

The stadium design includes a 17,000-seater single tier stand as well as a retractable pitch that will allow Tottenham to host NFL matches.
