The 111-bedroom Best Western Royal Clifton Hotel and Spa in Southport, Merseyside now has new owners who are looking to restore the Victorian building, which was constructed in 1855, back to its original glory.

A planned £2million investment will upgrade the property to four-AA-star status, refurbishing existing bedrooms and adding eight new ones. The hotel spa will also be refurbished. A new Beefy’s steakhouse restaurant is planned; the second one to open following the recent launch of the Sir Ian Botham inspired restaurant at Hilton at the Ageas Bowl Southampton.

The 147-bedroom Radisson Blu Hotel in Leeds has just completed a £3.5million refurbishment programme. The work which started back in January has upgraded 72 bedrooms, the meeting rooms and breakout areas plus the hotel's public areas.

The ground floor space at Radisson Blu Hotel Leeds has been completely remodelled with a new Fire Lake Grill House and Cocktail Bar - a U.S. concept and the first of its kind in the UK. Fire Lake Grill House and Cocktail Bar is a stand-alone venue within the hotel.

The newly designed bedrooms have new carpets, curtains, soft furnishings and mood lighting. Media hubs have also been added.

All ten meeting rooms at Radisson Blu Hotel Leeds now have a fresh, modern look, complete with feature walls, additional sky-like lighting and new audio and visual equipment. Wi-fi connections have been upgraded to deliver fast and free connections.

Phase two of the refurbishment will begin in January 2016 and this will see the refurbishment of the remaining 75 bedrooms.

Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa on the Wirral has recently completed a four-month refurbishment programme designed to "transform facilities".

The project, which cost £580,000, included an upgrade of its 62 bedrooms, an extension to its main kitchen and a redesign of Times Brasserie. It also included landscaping the front of the hotel, re-surfacing the car park and creating a new wood-panelled reception.

Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa has a range of meeting and boardrooms with the largest room, the Torintone Suite, accommodating up to 650 delegates for a theatre style meeting. A selection of team-building exercises can be arranged in the hotel grounds.

Butlin’s Bognor Regis has recently completed a £2.4 million revamp of its Shoreline Hotel bedrooms.

The hotel which opened in 2005 has undergone a full internal refurbishment. Bedrooms now feature a nautical concept creating a sense of being aboard a ship with colourful cabins leading off deck-themed corridors and complete with ‘walk-the-plank’ lifts. Butlin’s has also launched Nelson’s State Rooms with balconies and sea views.

Marylebone Cricket Club, owner of Lord’s Cricket Ground in London has unveiled plans for a £4million refurbishment of the venue’s futuristic J.P. Morgan Media Centre. Refurbishment work on the pod-style building will take place over the course of the next two winters and will be ready in time for the 2017 season.

When refurbishment work is complete the Media Centre, which opened in 1999, will have ten permanent TV and radio broadcast boxes and an increased writers’ area. The existing bar will be relocated to a larger facility serving the dining area.

Currently the J P Morgan Media Centre will seat up to 50 guests for a lunch or dinner.

The £4million media centre project is part of a larger, £200million redevelopment of Lord’s which is set to finish with the reconstruction of the Compton and Edrich Stands in 2027.
