The PIG at Combe hotel has just opened in the Otter Valley near Honiton in Devon. The hotel, formerly the Combe Hotel, is set in 3,500 acres of Devonshire countryside.

The ‘PIG’ team have refashioned the hotel. The old entrance and Great Hall have been converted into the main bar.

The formal banqueting space has been abolished. In its place is a stripped-back room with signature bare wooden floors and restored window shutters. In other words the ‘PIG’ formula tried and tested in the groups other four hotels has been introduced at The PIG at Combe.

The PIG at Combe has 27 bedrooms, 17 in the main house and 10 in the stable yard. The bedrooms are decorated and furnished in classic PIG style.
Two potting sheds in The PIG at Combe’s walled kitchen garden have been transformed into massage and treatment rooms.

The original Georgian kitchen with its range is now a private dining room for up to 14 guests.

The PIG at Combe joins The PIG, the original The PIG hotel in Brockenhurst. The other three include The PIG in the wall in Southampton, The PIG near Bath and the PIG on the beach at Studland in Dorset.

The Berkeley Hotel is one of the leading 5-star hotels in London. It is located in Wilton Place in Knightsbridge and is managed by Maybourne Hotel Group, who also manage Claridges and The Connaught hotels in the heart of London.

Plans have been published to build a new £20million, 7,000-capacity conference centre at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

The new building would be directly linked to both the Empress Ballroom and the Opera House in Blackpool to form a flexible venue with joint capacities of up to 7,000 delegates.

The new conference centre would be built on a former split level car park site and would include a conference hall for 2,000 delegate plus a 1,200sqm exhibition hall.

Blackpool Winter Gardens opened initially in 1878. It regularly hosted the annual major political conferences until 2007 when the resort lost its pre-eminent position.

Advocates of the new conference centre are hoping the project will help Blackpool regain its position as one of the leading conference destinations in Britain.
