A New York-based hotel developer has submitted plans for a 45-storey mixed hotel and office block next to the Broadgate development in London.

Masterworks Development Corporation, operators of the Club Quarters hotel brand, is planning a 390-bedroom hotel in the top 27-floor section of a new building which will be located at 13-14 Appold Street.

The existing Bavaria House on the site is due to be demolished at the end of 2015. This will be followed by a three and a half year construction programme with an estimated 18-month fit-out phase expected to get underway summer of 2017.

Club Quarters currently operates four hotels in London at St Paul’s, Trafalgar Square, Lincoln Inn Fields and Gracechurch Street.

Belmond Ltd has just announced the imminent arrival of Belmond Grand Hibernian, the first luxury touring train in Ireland and sister train of the Belmond Royal Scotsman.

Launching on the rails in August 2016, Belmond Grand Hibernian will be available for exclusive two, four and six night excursions starting from Dublin with itineraries throughout the Republic and Northern Ireland.

Interior designs of Belmond Grand Hibernian draw on Ireland’s unique character and mythology with colours inspired by the flora and fauna of the countryside. The overall design is fresh and contemporary with a 'hint of heritage and a breath of Irish air'.

Each carriage will reflect the colours of the tartans from the county after which they are named. The sleeper carriages accommodate 40 passengers in en-suite cabins. There will be two dining cars: the ‘Wexford’ and the ‘Sligo’ each serving the authentic taste of Ireland including Irish whiskies. The 'Kildare' will be the observation car kitted out as an Irish saloon and featuring large picture windows to watch the world go by.

Plans have been submitted for a new 20-storey hotel in Chapel Street in Salford. The hotel together with three apartment blocks plus shops and town houses will form a new development alongside a railway viaduct at the junction of Chapel Street, Trinity Way and Gore Street.

A new pedestrian route will connect Chapel Street to the New Bailey area on the opposite side of the railway viaduct and then to the Spinningfields area of central Manchester.

A preliminary decision is expected from Salford City Council by the end of July 2015.
