Radisson Hotel Group is the new name for the former Rezidor Hotel Group.

As well as launching their new name, the group is also planning to launch a new brand – ‘Radisson Collection’.

Radisson Collection will be a “premium lifestyle collection designed for exceptional hotels”.

Radisson Collection will replace the company’s Quorvus Collection brand and will launch fully in June 2018.

A total of 14 hotels worldwide will join the Radisson Collection following its launch.

These include the May Fair Hotel London, which will be renamed the May Fair London, a Radisson Collection hotel plus the G&V Royal Mile hotel Edinburgh (pictured) which will be renamed the Radisson Collection Royal Mile Edinburgh.

The other brands in the Radisson Hotel Group remain as: Radisson Blu, Radisson, Radisson Red, Park Plaza, Park Inn by Radisson and Country Inn Suites by Radisson. All are to undergo a refresh.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has just unveiled new designs for its Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts.

The new designs are set to feature across its European hotel portfolio.

The new-look Crowne Plaza is the brainchild of design studio Conran and Partners. The aim is to ensure the brand is the ‘first choice’ for the modern business traveller.

Central to the hotel is the ‘Plaza WorkSpace’ - a flexible collection of working areas modelled on a public square, where guests can switch between work and downtime.

Co-working spaces with huddle spots and built-in touch screens will sit alongside food and drink options.

The Crowne Plaza bedroom has been re-defined with the new ‘WorkLife Room’, designed with three distinct zones to support work, downtime and a better night’s sleep. Rooms will feature materials that reduce noise disturbance, whilst lighting settings have been designed to create a calming environment and hence an enhanced sleep experience.

Informal meeting areas have also been transformed. ‘The Forum’ is a bookable events and co-working space with a ‘Spanish Steps’-style layout for presentations and collaborative workshops by day and private dining by night.

The new designs have already been trialed in America.

The first Crowne Plaza hotel in the UK to roll-out the new design will be Crowne Plaza London Heathrow – later this year.

Plans have been submitted to convert the former Coventry Telegraph building into a 1950s-style boutique hotel.

The design of the hotel would celebrate the immediate post-war architectural style of the rebuilt Coventry which resulted from its devastation during the last war.

The 2.5-acre site would include around 100 bedrooms, a ground floor restaurant and bar, meeting rooms and events suites, penthouse suites and possibly a rooftop bar.

If the application is approved construction could start in 2019 with completion scheduled for the first half of 2020. This would be just in time for Coventry to celebrate its UK City of Culture year in 2021.

London craft brewery, Two Tribes, is planning to launch a new 2,500 sq-ft brewery with events space and a tap room in London this April.

Two Tribes KX will unite craft beer and street food with cutting-edge music gigs, DJ sets and parties.

Two Tribes KX will also be available to hire for meetings and private events combined with tours of the on-site brewery.

Two Tribes KX will be located between Caledonian Road and York Way in London.

Plans for a major £100million redevelopment of Chester Racecourse have been published.

Plans includes a new grandstand, a 1,000-seat conference venue with a car park built alongside plus an extension to the existing on-site Holiday Inn Express.

The conference and events facilities in the new ‘Events Building’ will be set over three levels. On race days it will house new hospitality facilities.

Car parking currently linked to Holiday Inn Express would be relocated and the plot used to create a 30 to 40 bedroom extension to the 97-bedroom hotel.

A public exhibition of the plans is currently taking place prior to a submission of planning applications to Cheshire West and Chester Council in April.
