Refurbishment Round Up

Crowne Plaza Leeds hotel is about to embark on a major £4million refurbishment programme. The four month programme will see the installation of a new restaurant, bar and lounge on the ground floor.

The reception will be redesigned with a revamp also planned for the hotel’s grand staircase.

All Crowne Plaza’s 135 bedrooms will be refurbished. New Clubrooms and suites are planned, plus a new Club Lounge.

The meeting and events facilities at Crowne Plaza Leeds including breakout rooms are also lined up for a revamp.

Refurbishment work started on 30th January 2017 and will continue in phases until the end of May 2017. Crowne Plaza Leeds will remain open throughout.

Crowne Plaza Leeds is situated in Wellington Street in the centreof Leeds and is a short walk from Leeds Central Station.

The Queens Head hotel in Troutbeck, in the Lake District, is set to reopen in April 2017.

The Queens Head has now been closed for almost three years to undergo a £2million full refurbishment following a major fire at the 17th century coaching house.

The new-look Queens Head will feature a large drinking area with dining areas and ten newly-refurbished en-suite guest bedrooms.

The Queens Head is a member of the Robinsons Brewery group. It is located four miles from Ambleside and Windermere in Cumbria and nestles on the side of the fells overlooking the Troutbeck Valley.

New owners of The Cottage in the Wood hotel have just started a major £2.5million refurbishment of the 30-bedroom property in the Worcestershire village of Malvern Wells.

‘1919’, the hotel’s two-AA Rosette restaurant named after the year The Cottage in the Wood started its commercial life as tea rooms will be refurbished together with the bar, lounge and seven bedrooms.

An orangery and a spa will be new additions.

The refurbishment of the four-bedroom Beech Cottage and the Coach House, together with the balance of the bedrooms, will follow.

The aim of the refurbishment is to convert The Cottage in the Wood back into a destination hotel, restaurant and bar, reflecting the strong literary heritage of the area which was home for a time to authors CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien as well as composer Sir Edward Elgar.

Cornhill Castle hotel in Biggar, Lanarkshire is to undergo a major refurbishment.

The so called ‘Castle on the Clyde’ hotel is primarily known as a wedding venue but it does have impressive meeting and events facilities as well as an enviable location on the banks of the River Clyde.

The first phase of the refurbishment at Cornhill Castle will see the opening of the Grand Ballroom in early February 2017. The Grand Ballroom will seat up to 220 guests.

New bedroom suites are also planned in the original castle turrets. A further phase will include the conversion of an existing grade B-listed stable block at Cornhill Castle into 15 bedrooms.

Cornhill Castle is located in Biggar, an hour from Glasgow Airport, 45 minutes from Edinburgh Airport and with good access to the M74 at junction 13.

Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London has embarked on a multimillion-pound restoration, designed to solidify the hotel’s position as one of the best in the world.

Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London will see all 181 bedrooms and suites refurbished with new designs, furniture, technology and soft furnishings.

Two new penthouse suites will be also be created - with private terraces and views over Hyde Park.

The project will also include renovation of The Spa at Mandarin Oriental as well as the refurbishment of the hotel’s restaurants and bars.

Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London will remains open throughout the renovation which should be completed by spring 2018.
