Friends House in London has just unveiled ‘The Light’, formerly the main hall of the central offices of Quakers in Britain. The Light is the result of a £4.5million renovation of the old hall resulting in a contemporary 2000 sq-mt modern meeting space. Key heritage features of the old hall have been retained. The wooden panelling and large windows now feature alongside a new roof light and vaulted roof. The Light is fully accessible and includes a flexi step to the stage.

New audio visual facilities have been installed, including a five metre-wide projection screen, a new PA system and LED lighting. There is also the opportunity to broadcast events live online through the venue’s video system.
Friends House can provide a range of finger and fork buffets for up to 700 delegate and buffet lunches with refreshment breaks throughout the day for up to 400 delegates.

The Light is Friends House's answer to the increasing demand for large events space in central London. Whilst The Light has a total capacity of 1,000 guests it can be formatted for smaller groups. It is suitable for cabaret and theatre style meetings as well as exhibition space.

The Light has a dedicated reception and private entrance. It is located in Euston Road directly opposite London’s Euston Station. It opened Monday 10th November 2014

Squire Hotels has purchased the Windermere Hydro Hotel, an 84-bedroom, 19th century hotel located on the edge of Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District. The Windermere Hydro Hotel will join Etrop Grange at Manchester Airport and the Samlesbury Hotel just outside Preston in Squire Hotels - both of which have undergone a major refurbishment under their new owners.

The Windermere Hydro is located in an elevated site in Bowness with views over Lake Windermere. Originally built as a water-cure hotel in the late Victorian era the Windermere Hydro now has an indoor swimming pool, sauna and mini-gym plus conference facilities to accommodate up to 200 delegates.

Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow has opened up the fifth floor of its building with 46 new luxury bedrooms. The development is part of a £4.6million investment which has also included a new entrance and ground floor reception.

The Grand Central Hotel which reopened in 2010 following a £20million overhaul now has 230 stylish and hi-tech bedrooms, a Tempus Restaurant, a Deli Central and a champagne bar. Two dedicated floors of flexible conference space include 21 event rooms with the Grand Room, the largest, accommodating up to 400 delegates.

Grand Central Hotel is a member of the Principal Hayley Group. It is located at Glasgow Central station in the heart of the city.

Montcalm Hotels have scheduled 2nd March 2015 as the opening date for their new M by Montcalm Shoreditch London Tech City - a new build 23-storey hotel located near Silicon Roundabout in Shoreditch.

M by Montcalm London Tech City will have 269 bedrooms, a mix of deluxe rooms and suites, each with a contemporary design aimed at the business traveller. All rooms will have complimentary wi-fi internet and 24-hour room service facilities and will feature the latest in-room technology as befits a hotel in this location.

M by Montcalm Shoreditch London Tech City will include a selection of restaurants, bars and lounges. Hoxton City Social will be the member's club on the ground and mezzanine floor. A restaurant and bar on the 17th floor will offers some of the most impressive views in London. Leisure facilities will include a spa and fitness room. A range of meeting, banqueting and exhibition facilities are also planned with the largest room accommodating up to 250 delegates.

M by Montcalm London Tech City is located in City Road close to Old Street and Liverpool Street mainline and tube station.

This week it was announced that KSL Capital Partners have acquired Village Urban Resorts from De Vere Hotels in a hotly contested auction. This follows their recent acquisition of Cannizaro House hotel in south west London.
Village Urban Resorts currently have 25 hotels throughout the UK with a further three under development in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

KSL Capital Partners, a US-based private equity company, already own the Malmaison and Hotel du Vin group of hotels as well as independent properties including the Belfry Golf Resort in Warwickshire. KSL have signalled their intention to convert Cannizaro House into a Hotel du Vin next year, following a refurbishment.

As of the 31st October De Vere Hotels ceased to manage Carden Park hotel in Cheshire. Carden Park Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa is now a 196-bedroom independently owned hotel and is located near Chester.
