Bristol Sport, the body responsible for the £45million rebuild of Bristol City's Ashton Gate Stadium, have just appointed main contractors for the project.  The redevelopment is expected to take two years and it will transform Ashton Gate into a 27,000 capacity multi-use stadium and one of the largest conference and events venues in the south west of England.

The scheme consists of three separate phases to the Wedlock, Dolman and Williams Stands. The first phase will see the existing 86 year-old Wedlock Stand demolished and completely rebuilt, with new conference facilities, administration offices, a sports bar, café and shops.

The decision to redevelop the Ashton Gate Stadium was taken after the club pulled out of plans to build a new stadium on Ashton Vale.

Truro City Football Club, Cornwall’s largest football club, has signed a deal enabling them to relocate their stadium to make room for a retail park on their existing ground. The location of the new 10,000-capacity stadium and training ground has still to be finalised although plans for the site include a 4G artificial pitch, conference and banqueting facilities, catering areas with a 120-bedroom hotel alongside. The new stadium will be shared by Truro City FC and Cornish Pirates Rugby Union Club.

The two possible sites for the new stadium are at Threemilestone or an area at Nansavallam Farm near Arch Hill. If approved, construction could begin in 2016.
