Yorkshire Event Centre has been granted planning permission by Harrogate Borough Council to build a new £10million exhibition and events hall. The hall will replace the existing building.

The new Yorkshire Event Centre will increase floor space to 6,270 sq-mt from the current 5,372 sq-mt. Construction is expected to begin July 2015 following next year’s Great Yorkshire Show.

Commenting, Heather Parry, managing director of Yorkshire Event Centre Ltd said: “We are absolutely thrilled with Harrogate Borough Council’s endorsement of our vision. This will be the largest single project we have ever undertaken and are a real investment into the future of Harrogate to help it become the finest events town in the country.”

The 135-bedroom Park Inn Leigh Sports Village is set to become a Holiday Inn Express following its recent sale. The hotel will be rebranded in August 2014 following a refurbishment programme. The hotel will be trading as Leigh Sports Village Hotel during the transition period.

Leigh Sports Village Hotel opened in 2008. It is a modern, purpose-built hotel with a restaurant, bar, meeting and leisure facilities. Ballogie Estate has lodged plans for the redevelopment of the existing Potarch Hotel on the Ballogie Estate on Royal Deeside in Aberdeenshire.  The existing six-bedroom hotel will be transformed in a planned £7million investment into a 40-bedroom hotel including a spa, conference and events facility along with a new restaurant.
Subject to planning and building warrant, work will start on the Ballogie Hotel and Spa next year with a projected opening date of summer 2016.
Ballogie Estate is a family run land management business covering 6000 acres on Deeside. Activities include livestock farming, cropping, forestry and field sports especially salmon fishing along a 3.5 mile section of the River Dee which traverses the estate.
