Safestay is opening its second luxury hostel in the UK in York. Currently under refurbishment but still open for business, Safestay York is situated in Micklegate in the city centre, a short walk from York station.
In total Safestay York will sleep up to 158 guests in a mixture of room types. Double rooms, twin bunk rooms and family rooms each have an en-suite bathroom, a television, an in room safe plus tea and coffee facilities. There is also a selection of dormitories ranging from 4 beds to 14 beds and all are en suite apart from the 4 bed dormitory. Most have a view of either the walls of York, the Cathedral or Micklegate itself. The dormitories have under bed storage lockers and individual reading lights.
In addition, Safestay York has an oak-beamed basement games room, a television lounge, an internet suite, 24 hour reception and a bar, an outside seating area plus a 24-hour guest kitchen and laundry. Free wi-fi is available in the communal areas.
Safestay York will join its sister property Safestay at Elephant & Castle in Walworth Road in London.

Hampden Park stadium in Glasgow scooped the 'Conference & Events Sales & Marketing Stadium of the year’ title at the Stadium Events and Hospitality Awards 2014. The ceremony held last week at the KC Stadium, home of Hull City Tigers. The two runners-up were Newcastle United Football Club and Aston Villa Football Club.
Reading Football Club were overall victors in the 'Operations Team of the Year Award' category followed by Worcester Warriors Rugby Club and Southampton Football Club.
The awards are the 10th annual awards organised by Stadium Experience (previously The Football Hospitality Awards) and aim to recognise the efforts and dedication shown by the catering, conference and events teams at every football and rugby stadium across the UK.

The Lion Hotel in Blaenavon in South Wales has just been relaunched following an extensive renovation. The four-star hotel now has 12 contemporary styled bedrooms, a restaurant and bar plus a health suite with a steam-room and a sauna cabin. It opened on 31st May 2014.
Bedrooms at the Lion Hotel are equipped with a flat screen television and DVD player, a desk, a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, tea and coffee making facilities and free wi-fi. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Lion Hotel is located in the heart of Blaenavon, a World Heritage Site, and is easily accessible from the M4 to the south and the A465 Heads of the Valleys Road to the north.

Andaz Liverpool Street Hotel is launching a series of bedrooms, dubbed ‘Room With A View’, inspired by East London street art.
The first room to open has been illustrated by Chris Price and his wife and collaborator Delisia Howard. It opens on 7th July and will be available to guests until July 2015. The theme of the room will be ‘Envy’. Additional rooms will come on stream in October 2014, January 2015 and April 2015 and will showcase work by artists Patrick Vale, ILoveDust and Patrick Morgan, respectively.

“Inspirational art is an integral part of Andaz Liverpool Street, and we strive to find new ways to support and celebrate local art, design and British artists,” said General Manager Tim Flodin. “We are incredibly excited to be launching ‘Room With A View’ with such a diverse group of talented artists for our guests and Londoners alike to experience a view of East London culture at its best.”

The Royal Oak at Keswick in the Lake District has just re-opened following a four-week-long £625k redevelopment. The Royal Oak at Keswick – formerly the Inn at Keswick and a traditional 18th century coaching house - has undergone a major transformation both inside and out. The Royal Oak has reopened as a ‘Thwaites Inn of Character’.
The Royal Oak has nineteen bedrooms in various sizes and categories all with complimentary wi-fi. The hotel bar includes six cask ales with at least one local brew. In the restaurant the focus is on seasonal dishes.
The Royal Oak is located in Main Street in Keswick.
