Detailed plans have been lodged for the £107million Marischal Square development in the centre of Aberdeen. Plans include the demolition of Aberdeen’s former council HQ site to make way for a new hotel plus new offices and shops as well as a major public square. A 125-bedroom four star hotel will result if everything goes to plan. The scheme should be completed by 2017.

Two new hotels form part of a range of regeneration projects set to be submitted for planning approval in Liverpool. These include a new hotel in the next phase of the Kings Docks complex together with an ice rink, a music venue, a cinema and shops. Meanwhile, in the Lime Street and Mount Pleasant areas a new television and music venue, cinema, restaurants and shops are envisaged alongside a new hotel. The proposals, which are currently in the initial development stages, are to be presented to the city's cabinet shortly. Planning applications for the new schemes are scheduled for submission by the end of 2014 or early 2015.

A new 115-bedroom hotel features in the Stockport Exchange development, plans for which have just been given the green light by Stockport Council.  The five-storey development will include office and retail units as well as the hotel. The first phase of Stockport Exchange was a multi-storey car park and this was completed earlier this year. Stockport Exchange is located adjacent to Stockport’s mainline rail station.
