Davenports, the Birmingham-based brewery, has received the go-ahead to transform a former bank premises in Moseley, Birmingham, into a new bar and restaurant with hotel accommodation.

The former HSBC Bank at 97-99 Alcester Road in Moseley will be converted into a new craft beer venue with 1,400 sq-ft of dining and drinking space on the ground floor plus an outdoor terrace to the rear.

The first and second floors will be transformed into ten boutique-styled double bedrooms.

In case hotel guests are worried about the prospects of sleeping above a rowdy pub, the plans were approved but limiting the pub opening hours to 10am to 11:30pm Monday to Thursday, 9:30am to 1am Friday and Saturday and 9:30am and 11.30pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Davenports are aiming for an autumn 2016 opening.

The Lion Quays Hotel and Spa in Oswestry, Shropshire opened four new conference rooms in May 2016, looking to Downing Street for inspiring room names.

Hence the Cabinet Room is the largest meeting room accommodating up to 60 delegates theatre style with private breakout space. The Westminster Room, Number 10 and Number 11 rooms will accommodate 20, 12 and 10 delegates respectively, boardroom style.

The Lion Quays Hotel and Spa has now unveiled plans for the next stage of its £1million investment programme.  The remaining 41 bedrooms which missed out on the earlier refurbishment will now be revamped, with completion scheduled for the end of 2017.

Imago at Loughborough University has added a new £3million teaching space – The West Park Teaching Hub – to its meetings and events portfolio.

West Park Teaching Hub features five tiered lecture theatres, two seminar rooms and a central exhibition zone.

West Park Teaching Hub joins Burleigh Court with its 25 meeting rooms and 10 main training rooms (the largest saeting up to 200 delegates) plus Holywell Park with its  12 purpose-built training, meeting and exhibition rooms.

When it opens Apex City of Bath Hotel will become Bath's largest hotel both in terms of conference and events spaces and the number of bedrooms.
