Dorsett Hospitality is set to open its second hotel - Dorsett City -  in London early in 2017.

Dorsett City will be in the 13-storey landmark building formerly known as The Matrix. It is located next to Aldgate tube station, overlooking the 18th century St Botolph Church.

Dorsett City will feature 275 bedrooms, two restaurants, a bar and 1,600 square feet of meeting space.

Dorsett City will join Dorsett Shepherds Bush the group’s first London property which opened in 2015 within the former Shepherds Bush Pavillion.

The Zetter Group has been confirmed as operators of the new hotel planned in London Road Fire Station in Manchester.

The Zetter Group currently have three hotels, all in London. The Zetter Hotel at London Road Fire Station will be the group’s first operation outside London.

The Zetter Group was created by restaurateurs Michael Benyan and Mark Sainsbury. They joined forces 16 years ago to open the Moorish restaurant Moro in Clerkenwell, central London.

The 59-bedroom Zetter Hotel followed opening in Clerkenwell in 2004. The group's other venues include the Grain Store restaurant in King's Cross, the 13-bedroom Georgian townhouse the Zetter Townhouse also in Clerkenwell and the 24-bedroom Zetter Townhouse in Marylebone.

The Zetter Hotel at London Road Fire Station will spread over five floors. It will have no more than 100 bedrooms and suites and it will include a world class cocktail bar, spa and co working space.

The Grade II-listed London Road Fire Station is located alongside Manchester Piccadilly station in Manchester city centre.

Allied London, the site owners, will submit a planning application for the hotel in autumn 2016.

Splendid Hospitality Group has acquired the 91-bedroom Ibis York Centre.

Splendid are planning a £1.5million refurbishment of the hotel over the next two years.

Ibis York Centre includes a café, bar and meeting room.

Splendid will continue to operate the hotel as an Ibis brand.

Ibis York Centre is the group’s fourth York hotel. It joins the Grand Hotel & Spa, Hotel Indigo York and Holiday Inn Express York in the Splendid Hospitality stable.

Southwark Council in London have given the go-ahead for a new boutique hotel within the Borough High Street Conservation Area.

The hotel will adjoin an existing Grade II-listed building.

The seven-storey hotel will include 50 bedrooms. A restaurant or café will be located on the ground floor. The hotel will also feature a roof terrace.

The new hotel described as “bold and contemporary” will be built on the site of an existing commercial building, which will be demolished.


Plans have been published to convert former offices in the centre of York into a hotel.

Owners of Yorkshire House, the former Aviva offices, intend to convert the building into a Malmaison Hotel.

Malmaison York would have 124-bedrooms and 49 serviced suites. It would join a 15-strong portfolio of Malmaison Hotels located in key cities across the UK.

The Yorkshire House building is located on Rougier Street, a gateway site into city centre York.
