Brunel Commercial Hotel and Spa, the commercial arm of Brunel University in Uxbridge, is planning to upgrade thirty of its seventy on-site bedrooms in a bid to attract more corporate and association meetings business.  Plans include modernising the rooms with a new deco, contemporary furnishings and plasma televisions plus new bathrooms with power showers. The redevelopment is due to complete in July 2014

Meeting facilities at Brunel include the Lecture Centre, a year-round dedicated conference suite with five seminar rooms and a 98 seat theatre plus the Howell Centre, a 425 seat auditorium. The newest meeting space at Brunel is the Eastern Gateway, a 425-seater state-of-the-art auditorium. Brunel offers free wi-fi across the site.

Sopwell House, the Georgian country house hotel in St. Albans is planning further refurbishment at the end of 2014 and into 2015.
A £1.5milion investment so far this year has seen the refurbishment of the ground floor meeting and events area as well as the boardroom-style meeting rooms on the first floor of the hotel. Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, a Thwaites pub located at Arnside in Cumbria on the edge of the Lake District, has just completed the final stage of a major renovation. A derelict barn attached to the pub has been converted into seven new luxury bedrooms, including a new two-bedroom apartment.   

The barn conversion now brings Ye Olde Fighting Cocks guest accommodation up to 18 bedrooms. The existing bedrooms have also been upgraded with Egyptian cotton sheets and upgraded televisions. The bathrooms have been modernised. Virtually all the bedrooms have views over the estuary and lakeland mountains. All have a seating area and a pair of binoculars so guests can fully appreciate the views.

The pub itself has already seen  a significant renovation which has included a complete makeover of the bar area and function room, the creation of a games room featuring Sky TV and the building of a bespoke new beer garden and children’s play area – complete with a 50 foot Viking ship.

Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire has unveiled plans for a £1.5 million investment improving its conference, events and exhibition facilities over the next twelve months.
Existing on-site facilities at Stoneleigh Park include a 58-bedroom hotel - Stoneleigh Park Lodge - plus catering services and parking for more than 30,000 cars.
Stoneleigh Park is located five miles from Coventry, just off the A46, which links the M40 with the M69 and M6.

The Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells in mid-Wales is now approaching the end of its five-year-long £5million refurbishment programme. All 110 bedrooms will have been refurbished, a contemporary bar and bistro added and their spa extended.
