MediaCityUK Manchester has submitted plans to Salford City Council for a new phase of development including 54,000 sq. ft. of office and studio space as well as a new 112-bedroom Premier Inn. The proposed 10-storey building will have four floors dedicated to the hotel whilst the remaining six will provide a blank canvas for occupiers to design their own creative space to suit their requirements.

As well as being home to the BBC, ITV, Coronation Street and the University of Salford, more than 200 smaller media and tech companies are now based at MediaCityUK.

Once approved construction will commence at the end of 2014 and will be due for completion by late 2015 and the hotel should open early 2016.


Sadler’s Wells theatre in London has reopened for conference and events business following a refurbishment of the theatre’s technology and event spaces. Sadlers Wells has now completed three quarters of its overall £7.3 million refurbishment programme.

The programme will also include improved accessibility, upgraded sustainability and energy economy as well as the upgraded technology. It is scheduled to complete at the end of 2015.

Sadlers Wells has a range of meeting rooms available for private hire from the main 1500-seater Sadler's Wells Theatre  and the smaller 1000-seater Peacock Theatre through to the well-equipped smaller rehearsal rooms.

Sadlers Wells Theatre is located in Rosebery Avenue in London, 250 metres from Angel tube station (Northern Line City Branch).

Roomzzz Aparthotel Nottingham City will be opening in early 2015 with 106 individual apartments, including penthouse suites with a roof garden and balcony.

A £3million refurbishment will see the building converted from the existing Welbeck Hotel to the Roomzzz Aparthotel Nottingham City. The aparthotel rooms will include a kitchens and living areas. There will be free wi-fi throughout.

Roomzzz are also planning to open aparthotels in Liverpool, Chester and London Stratford in 2015.

Building work is about to start on the new Roomzzz Aparthotel Chester. The hotel with 64 rooms is being created from a former office block close to Chester racecourse. Completion is expected in the first quarter of 2015.

Wallacespace Clerkenwell Green in London has opened two new penthouse meeting and training rooms. Located on the top floor each has a full length balcony with floor-to-ceiling glass windows on two sides, allowing light to flood the space. The new penthouse suites will accommodate around 20 delegates in a variety of seating arrangements. They also include syndicate space. They are designed for training sessions, meetings, workshops, research or entertainment.

Wallacespace Clerkenwell Green is a five minute walk from Farringdon station. It is the latest Wallacespace venue and joins the two other central London meeting and training venues:  Wallacespace Covent Garden and Wallacespace St Pancras.

The Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, or RCOG for short, has opened eleven ‘Rooms on Regents Park’ available to any guest. They include one family room to sleep up to four people, one twin-bedded room and nine doubles. All rooms are ensuite with either baths or walk-in showers. Rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with a plasma television with Freeview and radio, a hospitality tray, bottled water and complimentary toiletries. Each has a lap top safe and wi-fi is free throughout. A buffet breakfast is served in the guest lounge and this is inclusive in the room rate.

RCOG has a range of twenty-five meeting rooms split over two levels. The largest is Nuffield Hall (pictured left), a historical room with a raised stage area and with views of Regent’s Park and the boating lake.  It will accommodate up to 320 delegates for a theatre style conference. Alternatively, the Lecture Theatre's tiered auditorium can accommodate 229 delegates and this can be reduced for a more intimate setting for smaller numbers. The Lecture Theatre has a lectern, PA system and microphones, all operated by an in-house technician. There are eight rooms of varying sizes on the upper atrium some of which will combined. A further five rooms are on the lower atrium level.
