The plan is to convert the Grade II-listed building in Grosvenor Square into a 137-bedroom ‘world-class’ hotel along with five restaurants, a spa and a 1,000 capacity ballroom.

US embassy staff will be moving into their new home in Nine Elms in Battersea later this year.

The new Rosewood Hotel will be the second to open in London joining the 306-bedroom Rosewood London on Holborn, which opened in 2014.

Ibis Styles Glasgow Centre West will include 137 bedrooms plus a restaurant and bar.

The site is currently disused offices on Waterloo Street in city centre Glasgow. The offices will undergo a major redevelopment over the coming months.

Ibis Styles Glasgow Centre West is expected to open summer 2018. It will join its sister hotel in the city, Ibis Styles Glasgow Centre George Square.

The new institute replaces the old conservatoire in Adrian Boult Hall in Chamberlain Square, which was demolished as part of Birmingham’s regeneration project.

Birmingham Conservatoire is a five-storey building and features a 500-seat concert hall, a black-box studio called The Lab and an 80-seater Eastside Jazz Club - plus more than 70 teaching practice rooms.

Alongside rehearsal rooms and teaching spaces, Birmingham Conservatoire also has a wide range of meeting and events facilities.

The main Concert Hall features a raised stage platform and raked seating for up to 493 delegates with a small balcony.

Smaller spaces include the Recital Hall seating up to 250 delegates theatre style and The Lab seating 150 theatre style.

The eight spacious performance studios look particularly attractive. Flooded with natural daylight they are open, flexible rooms, with capacities from 30-60 delegates. Each is equipped with full seminar and meeting facilities.

Equipment available to hire includes laser projectors and screens, digital lecterns, surround sound and integrated wireless microphone systems.

A full in-house catering service is available… and Birmingham Conservatoire offers live music or a small theatrical performance during lunch-breaks, or performance team building workshops.

Avid will launch initially in America where IHG claim 150 owners have already expressed interest in the brand.

IHG will be evaluating the need for the brand in other parts of the world.

IHG expects the first Avid hotels to begin construction in early 2018, with the first hotel anticipated to open in early 2019. 

Keith Barr, Chief Executive Officer, IHG, said “This brand is designed for travellers who want a hotel stay that finally meets their expectations for the type of hospitality they value most – the basics done exceptionally well – at a price point expected to be about $10-15 less than IHG’s industry-leading Holiday Inn Express brand.”

Defining features of an Avid Hotel will include an open and airy retail-like entrance with a canopy.

Internally, guests can expect open public and work areas with communal spaces allowing guests to relax, work, connect or eat.

Avid Hotels will offer a complimentary breakfast and marketplace options designed for guests ‘on the go’.

The entire hotel will be equipped with free high-speed wi-fi access.

Bedrooms in Avid Hotels will include sound-reducing features plus a dedicated workspace, easy-to-use storage as well as the latest in-room entertainment options.

Avid Hotels will be new-build constructions with a minimum of three storeys housing between 95 and 100 bedrooms.
