Plans to turn the historic Old War Office in Whitehall in central London into a five-star hotel and apartments has gained planning approval.

The former headquarters of the British army are located at the junction of Horse Guards Avenue and Whitehall.

Plans for the Grade II-listed building include the construction of a double-height basement with three new floors added on top of the building.

Part of the building will be set aside for 88 luxury flats of one to five bedrooms. A new 25m swimming pool plus a ballroom will be built in the new basement below the existing central quadrangle.

Westminster City Council granted planning permission for the owners to redevelop property on the condition that the historic character of the 1000 room Edwardian building is not lost.

Planning is also conditional on offering public access to historically significant parts of the building at least 10 days each year.

Blackpool Conference and Exhibition Centre is a brand new 21st century conference and exhibition centre scheduled to open spring 2019.

It is being built on the site of the Winter Gardens in Blackpool and will have space to accommodate up to 2000 delegates.

Blackpool Conference and Exhibition Centre is situated on the Leopold Grove side of the Winter Gardens complex.

Blackpool Conference and Exhibition Centre will have a double height entrance foyer with exhibition space on the first floor.

Above this on the second floor there will be a large uninterrupted space capable of hosting major conferences for up to 2,000 delegates.

Blackpool Conference and Exhibition Centre will complement the facilities in the existing Grade II-listed Blackpool Winter Gardens. It will bring the total venue capacity for conferences up to 7000 delegates.

The Winter Gardens project is part of an overall £500million invested in regenerating the north-west resort. It is an investment which will include new four star hotels as well as a revamped tram system.

Plans have been published for a possible 240-bedroom hotel, water park and conference facility on the Longleat Estate in Wiltshire.

The water park together with conferencing facilities for up to 200 delegates would form part of the hotel with multi-purpose entertaining and ancillary buildings also created.

Longleat Estate believe the hotel will provide new accommodation, business conferencing and leisure facilities of a type and scale that is presently absent in the local vicinity.

Longleat Enterprises, the commercial arm of the 465-year-old Longleat Estate, has lodged its plans with Wiltshire Council.

Planning permission has been granted for the development of four floating hotel suites in Milford Haven in South Wales.

The floating hotel suites will be located in Milford Marina and will form part of the Milford Waterfront development along with retail outlets and restaurants.

Neil Jenkins, destination director at the Port of Milford Haven, said: "Our idea was developed when we were looking at ways to quickly add to the existing bedstock in Milford Haven. As the development gets underway we are expecting to see an increase in the number of staying visitors to the area. It was also important to us that whatever was proposed would match the high quality offering already enjoyed at Milford’s four gold anchor marina."

The Port of Milford Haven has secured approval from Pembrokeshire County Council’s planning committee for the scheme. The Port is hoping to open the new suites before Easter 2018.

The new Apex City of Bath Hotel is scheduled to open summer 2017. The hotel is available to book accommodation, meetings and events from 1 August 2017.

Apex City of Bath Hotel will include 177 contemporary bedrooms and will have conference facilities for up to 420 delegates - making it the largest hotel in Bath in terms of conference and events space as well as the number of bedrooms.

Some of the bedrooms will have balconies. All will feature walk-in showers and the latest in-room entertainment and technology.

Apex City of Bath Hotel will include a restaurant and bar. Leisure facilities will include a gym and swimming pool.

Apex City of Bath Hotel is situated on the corner of James Street West and Charles Street in the centre of Bath, just 200 metres from the Bath Thermae Spa.
