Signature Living has added the Alma De Cuba bar and restaurant to its growing portfolio of properties in Liverpool. Alma De Cuba is a set inside Liverpool’s former St Peter’s Catholic Church.

Signature Living are now planning a refurbishment of the Grade II-listed building as well as  adding a new 75-bedroom Alma De Cuba hotel next door.

Until its closure in 1978, St. Peter’s was the oldest surviving Catholic Church in Liverpool. It opened in 1788 and served as a Catholic church until 1976, after which it served the local Polish community for a short time. For this reason it is referred to locally as ‘the Polish Church’.

Signature Living has also bought the Alma De Cuba brand name and plan to roll the Alma De Cuba concept out in cities across the UK.

Signature Living own several aparthotels across Liverpool including 30 James Street in the former White Star Line headquarters as well as the Shankly Hotel in Victoria Street.

The Pilgrm is a new 73 bedroom hotel opening near Paddington station in central London summer 2017. It is the brainchild of a former partner in the Zetter Hotels Group.

The Pilgrm was formerly the Royal Norfolk Hotel which is now undergoing a major refurbishment in readiness for the change.

The Pilgrm is billed as a ‘reinterpretation of the traditional hotel’. Guests will check-in online prior to arrival with the hotel’s ground floor café serving as the welcome area.

The Pilgrm will also include a lounge bar and a first floor dining room.

Bedrooms in The Pilgrm will feature a ‘pared back’ design highlighting original features from the buildings 200-year history such as the mahogany parquet flooring and the cast-iron radiators.

The Pilgrm is located in London Street, a short walk from Paddington mainline rail terminus and tube station.

Funding has been agreed and construction is set to begin in March 2017 on the new £80million Convention Centre at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport. It is scheduled to open in June 2019.

The Convention Centre will be capable of accommodating up to 5,000 delegates with a total floor space of about 280,000 sq-ft.

It will feature a 1,500-seat auditorium as well as a 43,000 sq-ft exhibition hall which is set to become the largest pillar-free ballroom in Europe, capable of hosting 2,400 people for a gala dinner.

Excavation has already begun on land adjacent to Celtic Manor Resort

Celtic Manor Resort chairman Sir Terry Matthews said: "This International Convention Centre will allow us to attract the biggest and most lucrative business events to Wales, as well as high-profile summits and party political conferences. ICC Wales will rival any convention facility in Europe and will act as a magnet for major events, bringing huge benefits to the Welsh economy."
