Plans for the new Bristol Arena have been recommended for approval. The 12,000-capacity £92 million arena will be located on Arena Island, the former diesel depot site behind Bristol Temple Meads station in the centre of the city.

The 100,000 sq. ft. building will be split over four floors with the main entrance from a plaza to the north, accessed from a new bridge over the River Avon.

Bristol Arena is expected to host over 100 events a year, a mix of music, comedy, family entertainment shows and exhibition events.

Bristol arena is scheduled to open its doors in 2018.

The National Railway Museum in York is launching The Gallery, new events space available for hire from September 2016.

The Gallery can be booked for a wide range of events including conferences, product launches and exhibitions.

The Gallery will accommodate up to 200 delegates theatre-style. It will be equipped with the latest technology including free wi-fi. The space will be available for dry hire with the events team at the National Railway Museum on hand to help.

The Gallery can be hired for events from September 2016 until January 2017.

The National Railway Museum in York also has six multi-purpose meeting rooms seating up to 140 delegates as well as the large, unique platform venue for dinners for up to 800 guests. There is free parking on site and delegates cannot get much closer to York station.

The Flying Scotsman chugged out of London Kings Cross this morning (25th February) on its journey north to York. The Flying Scotsman, the oldest mainline working locomotive, will be in steam in the North Yard area of the museum on the evening of the 25th February. The viewing area will be lit until 10pm. The newly restored locomotive in its latest guise will then be on public show for ten days before its starts a nationwide tour.

The private members club, Soho House, has announced plans to open a property in Manchester.

The chosen site in Manchester is the old Granada television studios in the city centre. Soho House would be a part of the £1.2bn regeneration of the 25-acre Quay Street site.

Planning permission was granted in October for the 150-bedroom hotel which will also include a top floor club, a media workspace studio and suites, a boutique cinema, a live performance space as well as private bars and restaurants. It will also feature Manchester’s  first rooftop swimming pool.

Non-members can stay at Soho House properties as well as holding meetings and events on the premises. Access at peak times and weekends however is prioritised for members.

Plans are afoot in Liverpool to build a new hotel which will include the city's first rooftop swimming pool and spa.

The developers are currently in negotiation with a hotel operator to build a 116-bedroom boutique hotel on a former surface car park in Seel Street in the centre of Liverpool.

The designs are still are still subject to final review but are expected to make "extensive use" of bricks to fit in with the neighbouring Georgian and Victorian buildings. It is expected that a planning application will be submitted in early March.

easyHotel group has been granted planning approval to open in Birmingham.

The group has acquired a four-storey Grade II-listed property and former restaurant in John Bright Street in the city centre and plan to invest £4.5million converting it into an 84 bedroom hotel.

easyHotel Birmingham will be a two minute walk from New Street station and the Bull Ring Centre in the heart of Birmingham.

easyHotel Birmingham is now scheduled to open in 2017.
