Last week we reported on the planned Kingsland Locke Aparthotel in London expected to open in April 2020.

This week it is Manchester’s turn.

Whitworth Locke is a new aparthotel expected to open in Manchester later this year

Whitworth Locke will be located in a former cotton mill on the corner of Whitworth Street and Princess Street in central Manchester.

The Whitworth Locke development will comprise 160 ‘lifestyle’ apartments including 24sq-mt studios and one-bedroom suites.

The site will also include a co-working space, a gym, a cocktail bar and all-day dining,

Whitworth Locke is located midway between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Oxford Road stations and is around a five-minute walk to each.

Leicester Tigers Rugby Club have published a new fly-through video of its proposed new multimillion-pound hotel near its Welford Road stadium.

The Premiership club is seeking permission to transform the former Granby Halls site into a £20million hotel.

Originally designed with 166 bedrooms over five floors, the hotel is now expected to have 183 bedrooms with 3,300 square metres of reception, circulation, lounge and dining areas.

Facilities will include a business centre plus retail and lobby areas which will open up on to a flexible fan zone and public open space alongside a fitness suite, restaurant and fifth-floor 'sky bar'.

A planning application is set to be submitted to Leicester City Council. The hotel could be completed for the 2019/20 season if the plans are given the go-ahead.

Colwall Park Hotel, the 3-star independent 22-bedroom country house hotel in Malvern has now joined Classic British Hotels.

Colwall Park Hotel has a two AA Rosette-awarded restaurant as well as conference facilities for up to 120 delegates.

Colwall Park Hotel is an English country house hotel.

It is located on the Herefordshire and Worcestershire border, halfway between the Cotswolds and the Welsh Marshes.

Interested parties had the opportunity last week for a preview of what is soon to be The Shankly Hotel Preston.

The Shankly Hotel Preston is Signature Living's latest development and the group’s first hotel in Preston.

Signature Living are renowned for providing guests with something ‘out of the ordinary’.

The Shankly Hotel Preston will be no different.

As with the Shankly Hotel in Liverpool, Signature Living have curated artefacts and memorabilia associated with football-legend, Bill Shankly, and his time playing for Preston North End.

They will be displayed in the hotel in what will be a Shankly Museum, available to both guests and the public to view.

For non-football fans and non-fans alike the Shankly Hotel Preston promises luxury rooms plus a bar and restaurant.

The Shankly Hotel Preston opens late summer 2018 with 65 bedrooms.

It will be located in the 114-year-old Grade II-listed former central Post Office overlooking the main Flag Market and Harris Museum in the centre of Preston.

Room 2 Southampton is a new aparthotel which has just opened in Southampton. It is the first “hometel” - a concept which aims to combine the best of a traditional hotel with the comforts, convenience and routine of home living.

Room 2 Southampton is housed in a former office building which dates from the 1990's. Ithas been designed by Project Orange – a Shoreditch-based design studio with a focus on ‘design, comfort and value’.

The interior features are not dissimilar to those found on board traditional cruise liners, a nod towards the importance of Southampton in trans-Atlantic travel.

Room 2 has 71 studio rooms each with a fully equipped kitchen, work table, rainfall showers, free wi-fi, screen mirroring TV, a king sized bed and air conditioning.

Long-term locker spaces are available for guests working away from home for long spells so they can leave items over the weekend and return on Monday.

Other facilities include a continental breakfast and coffee bar, a pantry-style shop, a bar, a laundry and dry cleaning service plus the Living Room - a communal space for working and socialising.

Further Room 2 projects are on the drawing board with one planned to open in Manchester in 2020.

Room 2 is located at 1-8 Queens Terrace in Southampton.
