Towards the end of last year we reported on proposals to convert Beneficial House in the centre of Birmingham into a 130-bedroom boutique hotel. The plans have now been recommended for approval.
Manchester City’s star striker Sergio Aguero, Bournemouth FC’s goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and Olympic rowing champion Sir Steve Redgrave are just three of the people reportedly behind the project.
The seven-storey Beneficial House was built between 1959 and 1962 and was once the home of Snobs nightclub. The property has since fallen into disrepair and large sections of it have not been used for many years.
Beneficial House is located on the corner of Suffolk Street and Paradise Circus in the centre of Birmingham – a two-minute walk from Birmingham New Street Station.
Birmingham City Council is to vote on the proposals at a meeting on Thursday 15 February 2018.
