A life-size statue of football legend George Best is set to overlook guests arriving at the new George Best Hotel which is scheduled to open in Belfast this November.

The new £15million George Best Hotel is a joint venture between the Signature Living Hotel Group and George Best's family.

The family has presented a number of items of memorabilia to start a unique collection to be housed at the George Best Hotel.

Signature Living has ‘form’ as far as football-themed hotels are concerned. The George Best Hotel is the group's fourth football-themed hotel.

Others include the Shankly Hotel in Liverpool named after Liverpool manager Bill Shankly. A second Shankly Hotel is currently under development in the centre of Preston and is expected to open later this year. A Dixie Dean Hotel is also in development and is named after the Everton player.

The George Best Hotel will have 80 bedrooms plus a restaurant, bar and meeting space. It will be located in the former Scottish & Mutual building in the centre of Belfast.

Plans have been published for a multimillion-pound redevelopment and extension of Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa on Merseyside.

The four-star resort currently includes two golf courses of 18 and nine holes, a 27-bay driving range, a golf shop, health spa and 76 newly refurbished bedrooms - all on a 200-acre site.

The extension would include a 63-bedroom extension to the existing hotel plus a golf clubhouse and events space for more than 300 people plus an extension to the restaurant.

The development would also see 22 eco-lodges located within the resort grounds with a new spa proposed for the 10th hole fairway lake.

Property developer, Northern Powerhouse Developments specialise in the construction and refurbishment of property within the hotel and leisure sector.

The group has bought a range of smaller hotel, predominantly in the north of England and Wales.

They are now about to launch a collection of ten hotels under the Whisper Hotels banner.

The hotels will be split into four categories: Manor Collection, Premier Collection, Boutique Collection and Classic Collection

The Manor Collection includes:

Nottingham City Council has approved plans to convert a Victorian-built factory in Nottingham into an aparthotel together alongside offices and workshop space.

The site is the part-three and part-four-storey Palmerston House in Mount Street in Nottingham.

The aparthotel will have 36 bedrooms located on the first, second and third floors. These will be a mix of single and two-bedroom apartments all with living areas and fully equipped kitchens.

The reception area for the aparthotel will be on the lower ground floor which will also include seven car parking spaces.

Palmerston House is located in New Basford approximately three miles north west of central Nottingham.

Palmerston House was in the news earlier this year when police officers broke into the building to discover a cannabis factory with 4,049 cannabis plants growing inside. The haul worth around £3.5million was reported as the largest ever found in the city.
